Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Very tragic indeed.

The pictures at this link are telling :

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Severe weather conditions windy and hard rain have made it even more difficult to carry out resuce operations. God Bless Pakistan and kudos to those hardworking people who are united and carrying out rescue operations themselves .

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

New Death toll by CNN and GEo = 1300 :(

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Not true. CNN has been showing GEO footage which does show mostly civilians carrying out the rescue effort.

May Allah help them in this test.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

I tuned to CNN around 6 A.M. eastern time and didnt see anything there. Maybe that was still a bit too early to say anything.

Anyway, may Allah have mercy on everyones soul.

Sincerely,
Captain Lota

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

how very, very sad :(

May Allah have mercy.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Yes, you are right they did not show anything in the morning. They only started showing the footage after 11 am.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Sad indeed. But very true!

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Not True. I saw CNN showing civilians carrying out rescue effort (GEO footage) at 8 AM Central time or 9 AM Toronto time. You all really need to calm down and don’t let negative thoughts come to your mind at this hour.

Re: Life is normal, only some minor damage

Remember Bam, it started with 100 dead and a few days later 70,000. I hope it is not as bad, but I am sure the toll will not stop at around 1500. Allah khair karay.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Absolute disaster. Death toll reaches over 3000 (and will rise)

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

I just saw three of my friends, Saeed, Farooque and Sajjad during the night shots on CNN in Satinder Bhindra's report. They were in the que clearing the rubble in Margalla towers. I am so proud of them, I am sure the whole crew is there. I remember OjRi camp disaster and how we went to PIMS every day for three days donating blood every day. We spent the whole night with our cars full of water and food supplies in I-9 area and adjacent pindi, distributing it to whoever wanted it.

Cha gaye O jigro. Wish I was there with you.

Re: Life is normal, only some minor damage

Apparently, the information minister is the least informed. At the time of this interview, he knew the earthquake was at 7.6..he knew about the tower collapse in Islamabad. the least he could have done was be a bit more responsible about his statements. He is an idiot.

Re: Life is normal, only some minor damage

^
maybe he didn't hear the question properly bcoz of all the dhan dhinadin he was enjoying few mins ago in his office/house. :p

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Kudos to the people of Islamabad and pindi :k:

They have shown real courage in time of desperation.

Ok here is some more:

In northen areas, NWFP there’s been large scale damage reported, hundered of deaths due to landslides … In kaghan people gathered to offer Namaz-e-janaza in the morning and soon earthquake burried them alive :frowning: It started raining first in Muzafarabad and then in Islamabad.

Ok more importantly, met dept has warned people of Islamabad of After shocks for 48 hours and asked them to not sleep in houses or buildings, so most of the city is going to spend the nite under the sky. The fears are genuine becuase the first quake was very very powerful and we are thankful to Allah that there is no large scale damage in big cities … But the building have been shaken badly, a minor quake ( after shocks in Islamabad and other parts of have been felt since the first one). So there is more trouble for people. May Allah help them and keep us safe

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

After Ojhri Camp, this was probably the biggest disaster in the twin cities, but this time the poeple have really shown courage and heart, and I too wish was there with them.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

I am still alive :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

:(

Its amazing to see all the efforts the citizens are putting in to pull people out.

How many have been saved? I think that would be a nice number also to post up - shows the positive side of things.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

Indeed, my friend who I was talking to lives in F-11 and he told me that immediately people from F-10 and F-11 (its heartening as most people living in these sectors are upper class people) setup a relief camp at F-9 Fatima Jinnah Park and there was a huge queue of people with Dettol, blankets, all sorts of stuff.

200 Faujis were just reported to have died as well by GEO.

Re: Earthquake in pakistan

** Its 02:25 Pakistan standard time, first the electricity went, then another earthquake/tremor , it lasted less then 5 seconds, but was a significant jolt ,here in Pakistan. I don’t know when is it going to stop.**
