In a report on Geo, I saw a man with his legs (waist below) stuck between 2 blocks of cement, unable to get out, while about 5 people trying to pull him out. A very sad sight:( A contact from Islamabad, at the scene, on his laptop told us (members at pdf) that they had to cut that guy’s legs to get him out:teary1:
The amazing thing is that people did not even wait for the army or any external help to get there. Apparently, hundreds, if not thousands or ordinary citizens, flocked to the major scenes of devastation to help those who are trapped. It is moments like these that should bring people together.
very very sad day.. Inshallah I hope everyone gets the aid they need and they can enjoy the life they did before. :(
Btw, don't you guys find it ironic that some people were saying before when Hurricane Katrina hit the states that America got what it was deserving because of what they were doing around the world.. like Allah was punishing them.
Then a few weeks later, this earthquake happens in Pakistan, at the time of Ramadan, and that too in poor areas?
Funny i didnt see these scenes on CNN at all, rather i had to watch them on ARY. I suppose CNN was waiting to get beef on some shootings or looters etc.
People’s Champ, sadly those people have been around forever. They also said similar things when last year south east asia was hit by tsunamis and earthquakes. Some lonely people who have nothing better to do come up with these theories but the sad part is the western media takes these individual opinions and blow them up to portray them as the opinion of the whole muslim nation.
I am proud of the people of Islamabad and Rawalpindi (my town), they showed heart and carried out rescue operations themselves, residents themselves set up a relief camp in F-9 Park.
Our servant in Pakistan lives in Azad Kashmir and he went for vacation to his village (gayoon) and we have not heard from him but its one of the areas that was affected really badly. Please pray for him and his family's safety as well as all others that were affected.
captain, I think it must have been from the time when there were really no credible information, I mean the initial reports didnt sound as bad, it was mainly concentrating on the margalla towers report, but then all of a sudden the toll started coming from different areas. However, one thing was apparent, Islamabad/pindi werent equipped for a disaster of this scale on the part of the Goverment.
I was just talking to my dad and he said that he heard some noise and went outside and people were gathered around a masjid in chandni chowk, the tall minar just fell down! Apparently alot of buildings etc need to be checked now whether they are jolted to the extent that they shouldnt be used.
Allah khair karey, I thought I heard "...istan" on the radio at work so I turned it up and turns out there's been an earthquake in Pakistan and some villages have been reduced to rubble...
I was worried sick and phoned home to ask my mom to phone grandma, telephones lines were down but we eventually got through on a neighbours mobile and although it was very strong thank the LORD nobody in our village got killed..
