The biggest earthquake that I have experienced myself was the 1994 Los Angeles 6.9 magnitude which struck at around 4 AM and woke me up from sleep. Its can be a very scary feeling. That quake was some 19KM deep and this one is only 10KM deep. One can only imagine how the people must have felt as the bricks of the house jolted.

I called home to confirm all is fine , while i was on phone another earth quake came but it was a minor one .

Please don't forget Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala put us through a difficult time to test us. Please be in this trial of courage and faith together and don't fall apart. may Allah have mercy on us all. We are blessed to have this disaster in Ramadan than any other time. insha'Allah the souls of deceased ones will be at peace. Please reach out to those going through this difficult time and do anything possible to help them. Most importantly, pray for them. Pray that may Allah help them go through this adversity with courage and shield them from any further devastation and harm. Please please pray for them.

Whole villages are wiped out, and they can’t even get to them because of bad roads, etc.
The transportation in the country should have been priority number 1 before all these grand projects were being built!
Well, I hope this is incentive to develop the country in the right direction. I can’t beleive…whole villages under rubble…how will they get people out?

I have spent a good portion of my life in Islamabad - and it hurts to see all the destruction. I used to pass those margalla towers almost everyday. May Allah give us the patience to go through all of this.

just heard the news. Allah sab ko apnay hifz o aman mein rakhay. i hope all the guppies in pakistan and their families are okay. i am confused about if it did hit karachi as well?

My condolences to those who lost their lives. My regards to my brothers & sisters in Isl & the rest of the affected areas.
This is a very sad sight. The military & others have mobilized and are helping out. There are, I believe, 10 Mi-17s taking part in the rescue missions. Men & women are doing an excellent job at helping out others. A holiday has been announced in government offices. There is a shortage of water in F-10, Isl. Need water urgently. A temporary camp has been setup in F-9 park, where goverment will provide food for Iftaari People may stay there overnight aswell.

People are donating blood, setting up camps for iftar, setting up lights once it gets dark, cranes are arriving, helicopters sending supplies, hotlines established, presidential charity fund being established, some youth were seen clearing the roads so that ambulances can move.
Great effort. The engineering corp have dugged up a passage through which they will rescue people stuck inside the rubble. They wont disturb the upper part of the rubble for fear of more collapse

PCG, from my understanding and what I have read on the BBC, one of the first things the army did was send helicopters and army personnel to clean up the mudslides on roads leading to the villages. It is shocking really, entire villages have indeed been wiped out.
