sarah i read about sigma brushes for the first time yesterday too, and apparently theres these other brushes crown brushes which are supposed to be good (and cheap) too....
btw i found this site wth some elf swatches.

Go for MAC. I've tried many other brushes and not been satisfied. Even if you're not really 'into' makeup a few key, versatile MAC brushes will be worth it. They last for years and years.

I have already shared my experience with ELF brushes; they were either rough or soo soft that they had no firmness to actually apply product and in both cases a LOT of shedding.

Coastal Scents and Sigma are not really worth it either. There are some reviews on GS of Sigma brushes already and they are far from MAC quality.

Most of my brushes are MAC, a few are from Japonesque as sometimes synthetic fibres are needed. There are some drugstore brands with okay brushes. Dunno about the US but in the UK there is 'Ruby and Mille'; their brushes are pretty good for thre price.
