ahhh so i watched it n like evryone said too much fight v already got the idea tht both r egoistic n get angry very quickly n of course both r not ready for any kind of compromise so nopoint of showing those fights
i m getting more interested in knowing samina perzada life wht she suffered n how it got bck to track n evrything lets c i think from next epi it might be more interesting since pace is very slow uptill now
I hope there's more to Nadia Jamil's character than this. I had to fast forward most of the episode.
With all due respect to Qavi, this is not his role, his angry shouting/screeching looks overdone. He looks way to old for Samina Peerzada and I seriously think he needs to retire.
Samina Peerzada is wonderful, a class act, and a treat to watch.

Definitely this is Samina Pwrzada role to shine as DeS. Qavi overacts but it may just be character requitements. I don't think Qavi looks too old. I hibk his chatacter is about 70. Seventy year olds esp. if they previously were dominering act like this. It is interesting to see how calm DeS is in conparisin. As far as Nadia Jamil and Noman Aijaz it may be character requirements of two egotistical self centered people that they are playing.
DeS has better character development. Plus Samina Peerzada is totally owning the role and is brilliant as the calm and collected Shehwar. it's been a while since we have seen her in such a good role.
MeJ lacks on many levels. If you want to enjoy the visuals then watch it for the cinematography. The story and acting is just about OK.
Samina peerzada is playing the lead in this story no doubt, what beautiful expressions esp the sad and soulful look she gets in her eyes when she remembers the past. so well written by Umera, conversational rather than cheesy one liners, even the fight scenes btw the younger couple are so natural lol fighting repeatedly over curtains! the stark difference between qavi's younger and older character is brilliantly done.
Both are pretty good watch- but it depends what you are looking for. Mata e jaan deals with issues such as loss of parents, domestic abuse, but it’s packaged along with a “love story” and has a very light hearted feel to it. As cheesy as I find the romance of ibad and haniya, I still enjoy it. Makes me happy and doesn’t drain me out. I also love the colors and background and basically everything about it… except the glaring loopholes in the story, which I’ve learned to look past.
Right now I am finding most scenes in Durr e Shahwar very tedious - Qavi screaming, Shandana constantly bickering with her hubby (over and over and over again), shadana’s hubby and the daughter’s annoying scenes (yeah we get it daddy misses his little angel- quit showing it 5 times in every episode) and samina peerzada CONSTANTLY trying to tell her daughter what a douche her dad was(but daughter not believing her :s) . BUT this is Umera Ahmed and i know she will suck us all into this story just as she managed to suck us all into Maat. To me, Umera’s biggest strength is her emotional intelligence and her insight into personalities. It’s a remarkable gift which coupled with her eloquence and good storytelling brings deep characters to screen. As painful, annoying and repetitive some of her stories have been, the strength of the characters and the relationship dynamics between them keep you hooked…also the direction is great. everything is beautifully pictured. background music is nice (though excessive )
Incidently after Dastaan, I SOO wished that Umera and Haissam would work together, it was almost like a dream…of course that changed after i saw the pathetic Akbari, Asghari and Kuch Pyar ka Pagalpun bhi tha…
