Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

My family loved it!!! :biggthumb:

mateen???

kiya mateen shandana ban gaya???

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

Overall a good drama. A few stereotypes here and there though.

Re: mateen???

Already discussed on previous page

that was strange....they totally deleted mateen...and when mansoor kind of made his tarbiyat a reason to move to karachi...

then samina says you "shandana mansoors iklooti beti..." technically right but they could just showed one child from start.

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

^ i disagree, she said beti she didnt say aulaad

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I think the point in Durr e shahwars "story" was not how a father does his sons tarbiyat, but rather her own struggles. I think they did mention early on that Mateen is overseas.

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

love love loved it.... Simply beautiful.

A part of me ached when Haider ignores Shandana and goes to see his daughter.. but then when he smiles at his daughter, and Shandana smiles as well... I felt.. aaah again :)

I loved the older Shawaar and Mansoors scene outside infront on the benches too... beautiful..

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

Did Mansoor say he read her father's letters? The link I used had weird sound, so could someone tell me exactly what he said about reading the letters?

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I still found the 2nd to last episode better than the last one. The scene between old DeS and Mansoor was good, and also when the young DeS finds out at her father's death that her father had no idea if things would get better for her but still wrote those letters to encourage/change her life.

Hats of to Mohd. Ahmed sahab - he didn't have many scenes but had to do a lot of acting through reading of the letters and what a BRILLIANT job he did. Now someone needs to take those letter reading scenes and compile them on youtube for all the unmarried and married girls :D

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

i so agree wth u rukshar even i also liked tht epi :k:

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I agree with you completely Rukhsar. The second last episode was a lot better than the last.... but having said that, I felt the ending of this drama was not rushed at all and it just ended beautifully.... a nice feeling was left inside :)

And yes, Greysanatomyfan, mansoor did read all of the letters

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

i think the drama's correct name is "DURR-e-SHAHWAAR".

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I agree, the second last episode was beautiful and was my favourite. The last episode was nice and slow and thats just the way it should have been.

The other thing I really liked in this drama was the way the instrumental music was used so effectively in the background. No need for the singer's OST at the beginning, middle and the end of each episode, which seems to have become the norm with every drama these days.

This drama was brilliantly different in so many ways.

  • A side note to the director Haissam: please stick to this genre for your future projects and avoid comedies like the plague! ;)

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I wish they had shown some scenes of them living in Karachi happily.

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

Agree with you and Rabiya19. The last episode was a good "wrap up" episode. I do wish they had a scene between Haider and Shandana rather than 2 scenes of Shandana where the dialogues are repeated - one when Haider is sleeping & then she says the same thing to her mom on the phone - a blooper I suppose?? I found it strange to have such a big blooper in another very clean narrative and direction.

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I noticed the repeated dialogues too. It would've been better use of time had they had a happy scene of Shandana and Haider after he came home.

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

Completely agree with you :k:

Is there anything else worth watching these days? Im a one drama at a time person… LOL… I need something good.

I watched Kaafir before this… and my mum insists I watch More Piya now…

Re: Durr-e- Shawar - A play by Umera Ahmed

I liked the background music for this drama....the one for the flashbacks.
