apparently she used to smoke before they got married too and according to her he used to being her the most expensive cigerrattes to smoke when they used to “go out on dates” but now that they are married he hates it when she smokes

He could have dealt with it better rather than grabbing her. She could have him arrested for assault if she was in North America.

Well she can do that in Pakistan too Mehnaz and she has in fact called the police on him and sent her hubby to jail at least once from what i know. She threatened to do it this time too.

I think madam ne larai is lyay kee thee coz she “doesn’t like being ordered” ? coz his tone when he first asked her to wear it was authoritative like he expected her to do it (which ideally shudnt have bothered her but maybe she expected a request not an order)

its not about being dumb. its about what’s appropriate according to the time and place.

And somehow the man is more able to know what is appropriate than the woman? Does this mean you think women are just less intelligent and perceptive than men? Could it not be that she has gauged the situation too (she is the one going out, after all; he’s just staying at home), and decided it would not be inappropriate to leave the dupatta behind? Tell me that if she walked into some fancy club or shopping place in Lahore (or Karachi, wherever) without a dupatta she would look out of place there? I think not.

Uff… what happened to all the people on here who used to say that no woman should be forced into hijab because then it had no meaning?

Now suddenly it’s OK and a man’s right to tell his wife to wear a dupatta when she doesn’t want to?

As for those who like the idea of a husband who orders them around… clearly you’re not married!
