Dupatta on open hair

okay i want to leave my hair open on my engagement day, but the dupatta of my lehnga is realllyyy heavy…i really don’t want to put it up, but do you guys have any tips to make the heavy dupatta stay in open hair?? thanx!

Re: heavy bridal dupatta hairdo’s?

I was thinking give your hair lots of volume. If you go to a professional salon they can give your hair very good and heavy volume and make it stay with a spray.. Kinda like this one:

Maybe perhaps with a bit more volume but you get the idea..I hope

Re: heavy bridal dupatta hairdo's?

why don't you get a high bun but get them to put long extensions down the side ... that would look nice, To be honest - its better to have a updo cuz it won't strain your neck so much keeping it up ! The weight will be better distributed..

Hi,

I agree with Meenz..a high bun, possibly with a hair piece (or hair 'doughnut', as they are sometimes called), worked securely into the hair would give it the extra strength to hold the weight of a heavy dupatta. Smal, discreet hair pins could be pushed into the hair, through the scarf to make sure that it does not fall off the head.

All the best, :)

Re: heavy bridal dupatta hairdo's?

use hair pieces for sure to give yourself more volume at the crown. then your real hair can cascade down into curls or however you want it. if its just your hair, its going to go super flat under the dupatta despite the backcombing.

Welcome Chitra!

Re: heavy bridal dupatta hairdo's?

Very welcome Chitra :)

**I need the same styling at my Nikkah.... with the heay duppata... and they said that we gonna have a jora and a strand of hair in front... giving the impression that the hair are open..

Though, for some reasons, I didnt have it.**

U'd need some attachment/extensions that can support the heavy dupatta.. otherwise a heavy dupatta when pinned to u're real hair can be painful.

Wow, great question---I'm in the same situation and these are some great suggestions. I'm probably going to do the high-bun-with-extensions-and-tons-of-pins thing myself.

Thanks very much Naqsa and Shanayle for your warm welcome! :)

Not sure whether the following can hold a heavy dupatta or not but still had to post.

I know, I know it is kinda old but loose hair/dupatta. I had to post.

Re: heavy bridal dupatta hairdo's?

The first one looks really nice and different...

Dupatta on open hair

I would like my hair open on the valima, but I'm not sure how to carry a dupatta on my head while doing so. I don't want it to look messy. Does anyone have ideas or photos on how to?

Should I go without a dupatta on head? Or do you simply think open hair on valima would be a bad idea?

Re: Dupatta on open hair

sounds like a good idea,as long as its done properly otherwise itl look bad and yes youll get all the auntyjis comments......so as longas it looks real good.....sorry no pics, i wanna see some too.

but yes i say go for it...:]

Re: Dupatta on open hair

y dnt u curl ur hair a bit,and put a slight poof in the front of ur hair or at the crown if ur hair so that its slightly raised and itl be easier for ur dupatta 2 rest on xxx

Re: Dupatta on open hair

i think it looks messy with a heavily embroidered outfit...if you are planning on wearing a rather simple dress..or a saree..it may look pretty.

Nice pic!

depends how heavy ur duppata is and how long ur hair is. My cousin had open hair on her mehdhi but her hair was short so the duppata looked nice pinned.
