Hey guys.. ok so im looking for creative ideas to make my own dupatta that is held over my head for the mehndi entrance… i love how in pakistan, they can make that dupatta out of flowers but here in the U.S. that can get pricey! I want something cute and creative…
does anyone have any pics of different ideas for the mehndi dupatta that is held over the bride’s head? Someone mentioned in another thread where they saw one where they used strings of beads to create a chandelier effect.. i would LOVE if anyone has any pics of that? I’m planning on having 4 sticks/poles on the corners so pple can hold it up and ill decorate the sticks.. but i do love the idea of having something hanging from the dupatta to make it look different… PLEASE provide pics if u can!! i would greatly appreciate it.. thanks! xoxo
hey
for my coznz mehndi. we did the duppata and had poles on each sides and in da front we covered it with frills like a parda so noone cud see her.. and i have no pix coz i had forgotten my camera at home dat day!!!!!!!!1;'(
gud luk tho :D
You can enter in a doli or on a maharani chair like this one:
Take different colours duppatas, bunch them all together at one end and then attach them to a pole. The finished product should look like a half-tent. Ask your sister/best friend to hold the pole and walk next to you. The loose ends of the dupattas should be held by other cousins and they should walk around the center pair.
u guys are sooo helpful and quick to respond! thanks everyone! plz keep the ideas/pics coming if u come across any other cute and creative mehndi dupatta ideas :)
love the last picture! thanks rabia! :) i could do that and have a simple dupatta on the top of the beads but stretched out so it lays flat and then the beads can hang below it..im excited! hehe...
My nikaah dupatta has been used over the past 17 years for at least 8 other weddings. Its become a sort of tradition now to use my dupatta at weddings! If your mom or another elder has a dupatta you can borrow, that would be nice.
With regards to the flowers, if you are interested it really isnt that expensive if you have some die hard family members willing to help you. On my sisters wedding, my older sister went to the flower market at 4am and picked up about $400 worth of flowers for $85. She then took them to a family friend was very creative and she created garlands and bracelets for the entire baraat. If you can enlist the help of someone similar you could have flowers. Alternatively, go to a local fabric store and you can get trimmings for sofas and curtains that have beautiful hanging beads etc.. and attach them to a dupatta of your choice.
