So what’s up with desi people referring new brides as dulhans? I mean comon…why can’t they just say your wife, bhau/dil, or bhabhi?

i know this aunty...she is one of my father's friend's mom(so like my grandmother's age or so)...and whenever we meet...she asks me "baitee tumhara dulha kaisa hai...??.."

and i am not even a newly married person......!!

as much as i find it weird,i find it funny and cute too...hehehe

bride of someone, or when someone is called a newly wed groom.
it is fine. being called dulhan beitee ya dulha mian. are old Urdu title of love by elders to a newly wed couple. but again, every one is different.

i think its ultra cute.. my dadi on the susral side cant remember my name.. and so she just refers to me as dulhan.. its soooooooooooo cute and awwish!

My father's mumani is still called "dulhan mumani" -- she is a grandmother!

Ammi still insists I’m a new dulhan and should take advantage of the status when dressing up for various occasions. It’s been three years. I guess until there are grandchildren, I maintain new dulhan status. :dixsi:

My grandmother all her life called my mom Dulhan.

Also my father refers my wife as Dulhan tough she is only few months old dulhan.

I think it sounds very old style yet full of sweetness and love.

most of the time..1 DESI gathering mai bahut bhabhi..bau..hoti hai..aur dulhan sirf 1..its easier to refer to them as a dulhan to avoid confusion.

at a gathering, this one desi aunty asked abt the new dulhan and when they pointed to me, she was just.. "oh. :snooty: " :disgust:
