Xenophobia, stereotyping of Arabs, narrow mindedness, age-old prejuidices, mass hysteria, propaganda and most importantly "Protectionists policies".
Not very long ago, the Chinese wanted to buy Unocal a medium sized oil and gas company with most of its assets in Asia and Australia. Deal was not allowed by the free-markets because it threatened their "state security". Say what? Turn the clock to the eighties when Japs had all the money and started buying American heritage companies and real estate, same kind of xenophobic mantras were dished out but then free markets still had some muscle and could take independent decisions. Today, that is not possible. Free markets are dictated by security needs, financial feasabilities and economics are deemed irrelevant.
Bush administration has decided to support this deal, lets c whether this is just a marketing facade or real determination.
