Dubai Photographer Dilemma!!

hello,

anyone know of peeple or company who do phootography and video making for weddigns here in the uae… please let me know…

Re: phtography video making

Like we've mentioned in numerous previous threads, the best thing for you to do is to look up local businesses from your yellow pages and call around and talk to real people. Then go in and see portfolios of the select few you like and make a choice.
A lot of factors play into this like your personal expectations, your budget etc. And from your question, it seems like you're already living in the U.A.E and so you should just go ahead and do your research locally.

well since i am here i am already doin tht the reason i asked cuz many at times sumone has used the service already n can recocmend a gud place...n i guess thts the whole idea of the forum as well... :)

Re: phtography video making

Yup! That is the idea of the forum but there are so many disappointed brides that take way too much advice. lol. Plus being a local I'm sure you have seen/heard/know of way more and can get much better advice from people you see and meet everyday...
I just pray your day is as perfect as you always imagined. InshAllah.

Re: phtography video making

Oh well fk1437, i a friend of mine got hers done from Riaz Jamal...i think they are based out of Dubai but i don't have any details of them. I haven't seen their wedding portfolio as such, except a few shots of my friend's...Considering i haven't seen much of their work, i think they are okay...So, i think you should perhaps call n check them out...wish i had their contact details-sadly my friend has been out of touch!

Awwww... hugs Dont worry boo, I'm sure it'll all turn out excellent for you!
InshAllah :)

Re: phtography video making

A member (Gina) from GupShup recommended Adnan Hanif while i was looking for a photographer. While i was googling the other day i came across his website…Untitled Document. His contact details are available there. I still have to get in touch with him though!

Re: phtography video making

correction: Untitled Document

Adnan Hanif doesn't do video coverage..

Re: phtography video making

i am forgetting the name of the company but it is really excellent. Great service, female videographers for the ladies and males for the gents and the end result and product is exceptional. if you want i can ask my mom and tell you that company's name.

Dubai Photographer Dilemma!!

Well so it is........seems like i won't have a photog for my wedding n m hating the thought of it. I am finding it extremely diff to get a good photog. I have searched over the internet n found a nice photg called Swani Gulshan. Though his work is nice, it is completely out of my budget. I spoke to him n he charges AED 17,000 for ONLY 125 pics for a medium-sized album!!!M not paying him!!! Why is he so expensive:(!!??

I also checked out PrimeVision Studio in Deira Dubai and didn't like their work a bit. They were referred to me by a local beauty salon. I am so dissappointed that i have started giving thoughts to not have a photg altogether, knowing this would prick me as well!!!

So girls, do you know of a decent photg+videographer in Dubai? Someone whose work uve seen/heard about? I am so short of time n need all your help!

Help please, help urgently!!

Re: Dubai Photographer Dilemma!!

dubai wedding photographers - Google Search

don’t dismiss gora photographers and there seem to be more of them than desi ones in dubai. starting calling and asking for rates based on what you want, i.e. this many hours of coverage, this many prints, unmarked proofs, etc.

tell them you can put together your own album- you just want the edited pictures from them-- that might save you a bit. and instead of having them there for the whole night, have them there for half the night, i.e. for your entrance and the ceremonies and the guest shots (or whatever you think is necessary for you to be shot by a pro). it might be a good way of compromising on costs and accommodating your budget. ask your fam/friends with cameras to set their resolutions to highest and snap away during the rest of the night-- the pics will be big enough for you to be able to make prints from them too.

or, pick one- video or photo if its not possible to have both. this is what i did- i really wanted great photos and didn’t care so much about video (the camera adds 10lbs anyway :p) plus our budget didn’t extend so far so prioritizing costs was number one… i found photographers that i really really liked and although were a bit expensive, since i wasn’t having video so i was able to slot them into my budget.

theres always ways of finding someone you can afford- just keep looking, be persistent in what you want- you’ll probably call 30 photographers before you find the right one, but iA you will find them!

Re: Dubai Photographer Dilemma!!

Thanks sgc!!! After reading your post i have emailed/called several non-desi photographers who have assured me a reply with quotes ASAP. I was just a little concerned of how a non-desi would cover the wedding. I also remember we had a similar topic on gs, and faily all members agreed that ethnicity had nothing to do with bad/good/great photography. I agree to it fully, but perhaps beacuse i never considered having one for MY wedding that it never crossed my mind.

Do you think having done at least one asian wedding before for a non-desi would make a lot of difference than hiring one who hasnt at all? M a bit confused, though i know ppl have to experiment n start somewhere!

I liked yur suggestion of just getting the pics edited n makin the album on my own. I have asked them to get quotes with n without them.

I cant express how helpless i felt when i checked some local studio in Dubai. I just thought it might be better not having one, if the result had to be as bad as what i had seen and after spending a good AED 10,000. It was better not to spend at all than to have an album that i would feel bad about looking at later!!

You make all the sense...thanks for replying!!! ill keep looking n hope to get one locked before i lose all my hair n the count reaches 30!:)

Re: Dubai Photographer Dilemma!!

lol! you won't lose all your hair, you'll be fine.
if you really like their photography style, and their personality and all of that (like discussed in the other thread), i'm sure they'll do a kick ass job on your wedding. just remember to trust them to do their jobs like the pros that they are - no one likes to be micro managed and dealing with an overcontrolling bride can be very off-putting to vendors. so go with your gut- involve your fiance and your family and make your decision together. that way there will be way less pressure on you to decide!

also, the 30 was just a random number i threw out! :p
i probably spoke to 8 before i found mine, so don't take it literally! haha
