Islamabad: The government has decided to appoint Interior Minister Rehman Malik as adviser on interior affairs after the Supreme of Pakistan suspended his Senate membership for having UK nationality.
The court suspended the membership of interior minister as a three member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry issued interim order over a petition filed by Akhtar Hussain Naqvi, a citizen of Karachi.
The SC said that Mr Rehman Malik had dual nationality when he contested Senate election. It said Malik was not illegible to contest Senate election.
After the SC verdict Mr Malik would no longer be eligible to retain interior ministry.

Not that I have any +ives about Rehman Malik to list here. I think he is one of the worst interior minister we ever had but this is in sane.
His membership should not have been suspended till the final verdict. Why not its done in other cases, lets say why shehbaz’s membership was not suspended till the final verdict?
insaanf srif hona nahi chehyee, hota howa nazer bhi aana chehyee. Unfortunately that’s not the case in Pakistan these days.

If a dual citizen cannot stand for election, then this law naturally disqualifies him from franchising or voting rights as well; He can you allow a person to vote and ban the same person for election..very abnormal ruling.

A US president can only be a person who is a born citizen. Is it also abnormal that a person who is naturalized citizen or born outside of USA gets to vote but can't run for presidency?

The verdict court gave on Rahman Malik dual nationality case is naked sword for all politicians, including Nawaz, Shabaz, Imran, Zardari, Gillani, etc.
Verdict is on ground that, when Rahman Malik filed his nomination paper for Senate election, he made statement as requirement of election that he is not subject to disqualification according to article 62 and 63 of the constitution. Since such statement was lie when he filed nominated paper, he is deem disqualified.
Now, if one reads article 62 and 63 of constitution carefully, and interpret these clauses as is interpreted by courts, lawyers, law makers, journalists, and most Pakistanis, than most people who contest election would lie if they sign nomination paper for election declaring themselves legible for election of Assemblies or Senates. And if they do not sign nomination paper or sign saying that they do not qualify, then that means they could not contest election.
That means, most candidates who contest or expecting to contest election in Pakistan would not be able to contest election, and that include Imran Khan, Nawaz Shareef, Shahbaz Shareef, Zardari, Gillani, and many more, as if they would, people would go to court against them and accuse them of lying when filing their nomination paper for election (that would be easy to prove too).

Kashmiris Mahajireens in Pakistan also take part in Elections and votes but they also vote and take part in elections of AJK .
