Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
get a better lipbalm. not all of them are the same. i have the same issue, and there are only a couple of specific ones that seem to get the job done right.
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
I use this daily on my lips at bedtime and Alhamdulillah my lips are so soft. No more chapped lips.

Which one do you use ?
I tried Carmex (worked for a while then stopped), Labello (didn't work), Vaseline lip balm and Vaseline pretoleum jelly.
Nothing works for me now =/
@eshal I also tried it =/
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
carmex makes me wanna pluck at my lips all the time. -__-
what works for me is chapstick classic original, i buy like 6 at a time and stash them everywhere from car to work.
Dry and itchy lips =/
I have the Sameeee problem and nothing works :( Vaseline Carmex nutrogena body shop. Tried them all! I can't wear lip gloss/stick cause my skin is so chapped.
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
exfoliate your lips first and apply the balm while the lips are still damp (not dripping wet)
they sell lip exfoliaters in beauty stores (like the fresh sugar one, and i saw soft lips has now come out with one) but they are expensive for a tiny pot and you can very easily make it yourself- just mix sugar with a few drops of a pure oil (which will also put moisture in) and add a bit of honey- it should be like a coarse sand-like paste - you can use any oil you have on hand like olive, almond, jojoba, argan, etc..
wet your lips and scrub with the mixture (you can use a washcloth to do it if you want or a soft toothbrush or just your fingers)
dab your lips dry and apply balm immediately (try mixing vaseline w a bit of pure oil- it might take some effort for them to come together)
best to do this at night and don't do the scrub more than 3x/week- and don't do the scrub at all if your lips are cracked and/or bleeding
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
I'm using kiehls no 1 lip balm and omg it's amazing!!! It sinks into your skin and instantly moisturizers your lips! Highly recommended
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
Why are your lips itchy? Are you allergic to an ingredient, perhaps? Maybe your lips don't like petroleum so try a petroleum-free lip balm like Yes To Carrot's C Me Smile Lip Butter (in Mint) which is one of my favorites.

Story of my life :hinna:
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
omgg i am so excited to see this post so that i can share my secret ( not really MY secret) i have really dry lips…they always used to be chapped and i tried EVERYTHING out there. and then i had a baby, i bought lasinoh lanolin which is supposed to help with cracked dry breasts for when you are breast feeding. anyways, one day i decided to research on it online cause it was working so darn well on u know what…well there’s a whole world out there using it for their lips and it works like a charm. I haven’t had lips this soft in years really. lol. it is totally safe to use anywhere on the body. check out the reviews on Lansinoh Lanolin reviews - Makeupalley
you only need the tiniest amount, the tube will last you for a very long time and will save you tons of money. i put some of it in a small sample container to put in my bag…don’t want to be caught putting nipple cream on lips in public. try it.
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
^LOL at the last sentence…the thought makes me crack up
if I come across it, i’ll get it for the winter months!
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
LOL! I've heard of that too but I can't stand Lanolin knowing where it comes from. gag
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
you may want to see a derm or your regular doctor bc dry lips should not itch, this may be from an allergy or eczema. Anyhow if that is the cause these products work really well for over the counter stuff and my dermatologist told me to use these and it helped me out:
Aquaphor lip repair
Aquaphor Lip Repair
Try using good old coconut oil, trust me! If anything use sugar, a soft toothbrush and coconut oil to exfoliate area gently
Chapstick ultra renewal is great and my derm recommended me to use it I love this stuff
(3 pks.) CHAPSTICK ULTRA RENEWAL, NIGHTTIME FORMULA : EXP:04/2013 on eBay!](http://compare.ebay.com/like/290703816421?var=lv<yp=AllFixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar)
And I know this will sound weird but I like to do a layer of carmex and then a layer of vaseline over it when I go to bed.
Again coconut oil! Also be careful wiith what you are eating. Does water dry out or irritate your lips, are you brushing with a really harsh toothpaste that may dry out your lips?
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
u might be allergic to something
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
The Aquaphor one is quite nice. I've heard good reviews for Eucerin lip balm too. Has anyone tried the eos lipbalms? What are they like?
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
^The EOS balms are not very moisturizing but they do make for a great base under lipsticks.
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
i've been obsessed with lip balms/sticks seriously since i was a kid. best ones i found are Korres lip butters (+ some of them are tinted so great for when lips are dry AND make you look dead) and Burt's bees (the classic one that smells like peppermint or the pomegranate oil one)
For extreme situations, i apply 8 hour balm by Elizabeth Arden
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
I used to suffer from really dry lips too, carmex, vaseline etc never seem to having last effects, the two lip balms that really work for me are Burts Bees, and Hemp lip protector from thebodyshop. Sugar lip scrubs can help to take off the dry skin too, but i find that it leaves my lips feeling 'raw' sometimes. I recently tried using a wet muslin cloth on my lips to exfoliate them and i LOVED the results!
And i agree with SLH, coconut oil can do wonders for dry skin, my little sister suffers from mild excema during the drier months and the doctor recommended coconut oil and its worked wonders, it works really well around the eye are too!
Re: Dry and itchy lips =/
Wow ! thanks a lot for your inputs.
I can't scrub them, it hurts and bleeds. Then I'm left with even more chapped lips.
