So for the next 20 years, recent research and climate models suggest that the US will experience severe droughts.

Are we prepared?

not for 20 years straight, but several droughts during a 20 year period.

ppl should really start to think about conservation of water and our environment…because just a few ppl doing so is not going to help anyone…

Maybe its just Karma… perhaps when this happens to the United States they wont be so wastefull and likely to stop being such global chowkidaar… :cb:

i have a plan. US should put all their empty pots and pans below the canadian border. when global warming melts canada, all the water can be collected and send to the drought-striken midwest.

Theres an interesting meme circulating the net... i'm sure some of you have seen it. The truth is so painfull in that it shows a starving African child looking at a reporter with the bold words...

"So your telling me you have so much water you take a dump in it?"

When thats the state of the world in which we live... perhaps it might be best if the drought hit everyone just so everyone could feel the suffering.

Cruel, yes, mean, indeed but its sometimes for the best.

Now that we know that this is a possible future, why can't we work on a system to overcome this impending challenge?

because no one thinks that far in ahead. Everyone is just looking out for their own best. I do agree there should be programs put in place at national level to conserve water.

Yes there should be. Maybe we can start at our home, then our schools, then have special incentive-based community education efforts. This is serious.

You are absolutely right Niki, if the government isn't doing anything doesn't mean we shouldn't either. We should start at home and our community.

serious maybe. but what do you do when half the people in significant parts of the leader nation of the world still think climate change is made up by liberal scientists with no morals? people have a huge disconnect from the world they live in.

I don’t know how people can be so oblivious. :smack: To be honest I think they just don’t want to do anything about it so they pretend it doesn’t exist.
