oh that explains why- I too started learning with a manual car and hated every bit of it. Here in US, we have to pass a written exam before taking the road test, but its nothing too difficult. I dont know about Dubai.. wont be too surprised if its true tho.
If you pass your driving test in a manual transmission car, the driving license permits you to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles. It becomes easy to drive manual or auto car,that's why you must learn on manual. We have to pass computer based theory test, the test has multiple questions and hazard perception. My bad, I thought you were from Dubai. And yes, they ask to learn on auto especially for ladies.
