Who’s passed their driving lessons? How many lessons did you take? At the ripe old age of 23 I’m gonna start learning! ![]()
Re: driving.
i had around 35 lessons. are you planning on learnig automatic or manual?
Re: driving.
i was 21 and i took 3 lessons and passed on my first attempt! :)
Re: driving.
I taught my self how to drive by borrowing my dad’s car from time to time. I used to just drive down the street to get snacks from the corner store ![]()
The first time I really drove, my dad pulled over on the freeway and told me to hop into the drivers seat. Scariest and most fun time of my life!!
I never took any lessons but I passed on my first go when I went for my license on my 18th birthday ![]()

police will catch ya after reading this…![]()
Re: driving.
Passed it 2 years ago at 21. Took 3 lessons from a pro, and several from my mother. By the time I contacted the professional instructor, I was already very comfortable with driving and knew the rules of the road well so 3 lessons were plenty for me.
Re: driving.
I had around 15 lessons, got theory test booked in 2 weeks time, pass that, get some more lessons and get it done this year.Cn’t wait to get rid of it. ![]()
driving.
Gonna learn a manual. I already know the basics and can drive around but need to learn techniques and parking. Planning on booking my theory soon! So excited :D i've been waiting to drive around for ages!! I'm quite confident though and I've driven down the road as well :p
Re: driving.
I drove for the very first time when I was 14. We were returning from my school, after seeing my result. I thought I had scored decent grades, so I asked mum to let me drive, as a reward. I drove about 200m that day, staying in 1st or 2nd. I had already done a lot of gear shifting practice at home before that, however working the clutch was a bit tricky.
My mom would let me drive, under her supervision, whenever we went for short runs in our neighborhood.
I think I was 17 when I first drove in actual traffic.
I got my licence when was 19 1/2. It took me four months to get my licence, cause they'd just fail me for one reason or another. Finally had to bribe them to get my licence.

If you're gonna go for manual, practice shifting first. Go into an empty parking and take your time to get a feel for the clutch. You don't want to stall your car on a traffic light, with traffic stuck behind you. It takes before you can shift without even thinking about it.
Re: driving.
This might help, it’s the official driving test marking scheme we use here: http://www.drivingschoolireland.com/appendix_6.pdf
Re: driving.
The quickest way is to have as many lessons as you can in as short amount of time and take your test asap. You will be ready in fewer lessons when you are having proper practice regularly and everything is fresh in your mind.
My instructor (that my siblings and cousin subsequently used) would give you 5-10 1hr lessons for the basics and then go straight into mock test on the used routes to get you used to them. So most of us were ready for our tests by 15-20 lessons even if we had never driven before.
A lot of it also depends where you live and how complicated the driving is in those particular test routes.
I'm a bag of nerves in exam situations so it took me more than a couple of goes, having to wait months in between because that is how long it takes to get an test slot in our area. But I'd just have 2 2hr refresh test situation lessons before each test.
Re: driving.
I passed it at 18. Was taught by my dad, it was a total of 5-6 lessons or so
Scariest part was definetly the first time on a freeway
Re: driving.

I got my license in US.
Re: driving.
A week sounds pretty fantastic man. Top of that, doing it on the roads of Karachi. Job well done indeed. You know what they say, if you can manage to drive yourself through Karachi, you could sure reckon yourself to be the master of every street/terrain in the world. ![]()
I did learn driving at the age of 11, on a manual. Thanks solely to my mothers generosity and my nani maa’s house being located pretty far away from where we lived. I’d religiously wait for it to turn Thursday as that would get me to hop in the passenger seat, do a couple “Please ami’s” and she’d take me to a cricket ground (That I’d know of beforehand) where the road-wise warrior would do all that he’d be wishing for the entire past week. Not mentioning the sleepless nights before and after the said joyride. ![]()
