Drinkings in Islam

I really want to try a drink…but dont cos I fear the punishent in the next world.

However. there was a site (link I dont know) which was like an Islam Q&A-anyone care to place that in this thread.

So basically, how can I drink AND avoid punishment , or is it best if I just keep on this path (which I follow strictly to keep my fathers name clean and out of fear of Allah-in that order) ?

Re: Drinkings in Islam

try some non-alcoholic drinks;)

Let me be a tad clearer:

I want to know what Alcohol tastes like...

Depends on yourself if you can live with your conscience of consuming alcahol which you are well aware of is haraam. One thing I will say, if the smell of alcahol is anything to go by I can't see it having much of a 'taste' to it, I often refer to drinking of alcahol as 'urinal consumption'.

i have some friends who also say that they really badly want to know what alcohol tastes like...

i think you should just ignore the thought and just tell yourself its HARAM and thats it...why even entertain the possibility?

Like, will you ever drink ummm sulphuric acid? no, coz you know if you do, it will kill you...so its a NO...think like that abt alcohol too...

p.s. I've heard it tastes really disgusting so don't worry u aren't missing much anyway :D

Alcohol in moderation and in the right form & forum tastes pretty good. But if you think it is against the words of your Gods, why are you trying to find a loophole? This is a great opportunity for you to take control of your mind and show who is boss.

A good cocktail or two is terrific indeed but you won't enjoy it feeling guilty. You'd have only wasted a faith and most importantly, a perfectly good drink

Its possible that after alcohol, then you'd want to "try out" pork and bacon. Then you may wanna "try out" marijuana and 'ice'. This urge to "try out" just never ends. Does it?

Yeah that urge might take you over if you can;t sip a glass of wine and you might end up strapping a bomb to your waist and blowing up a pizza parlour. I would hate to see that happen...go get a glass of 1999 NorthFork Merlot and relax.

yes its haram.. muslims should avoid it.. I guess hindus too dont drink.. Those who charged and destroyed Babri Mosque were drunk otherwise we all know how brave they are .. dunno why non-muslims express their biased views on a pure Islamic question instead of asking for knowledge!

  there is always some 1 who has 2 spoil it, come on mattress why bring blowing up subject into this thread totally un called for :nono1:

peace… :flower1:

Do you really believe that every person who does not drink is a suicide bomber?

My point was to show the otherside of Faisal's post. Not everyone who has a drink has a natural provlivity towards marijuana or pork. But someone who keeps a holier than thu attitude as a guardian of a religion might me more inclined to use the tenets to cause harm.

sure some do .. i was referring to bomb thing.. whatever the topic in religion some one will bring words like "madrassa", "Mullah", "Bomb" , "Jihadi" when they dont find any answer.. and try to change the topic..

If you want to try it that badly then just try it !! Don't try to justify it through religion cuz you aint gonna find any !!

I personally think that drinking is not as bad as violating human (& animal) rights - huqooq-ul-Ibaad- yet we don't think twice about gaining short term benefits at the cost of others. There is a long list of do's and dont's in islam and I don't think there will be a single person on this planet who follows all the directives. So if we accept that we cannot follow all the instructions in Quran & Hadees, we have to draw a line somewhere on what is acceptable to do and what isn't. It just happens that most of us regard drinking as the mortal sin. But then I would say that lying and deceit is worse than drinkng cuz through that, you are harming other people whereas drinking is a matter between yourself and God. But we don't regard lying and deceit as being bad.

By the way it says in the Quran that "dont pray to God (offer namaz) if you are drunk". Is that not an admission that there may be an instance where a practising muslim may be drunk??

Reason of question is not because of nationality, but "religion".

drinking in general or drink until intoxication is wrong?

Its not so much that I have to drink-its just I want to experience that experience. Its also lots of peer pressure, my mates drink and stuff-and due to both Islam and Dad, I just havent. Means I miss out socially.

You guys know what I'm saying...

I dunno, some of its smells quite nice. I mean beer looks and smells nasty-but those Alco-pops, wine and Whisky smell ok....and look nice...

What is the punishment for drinking on Qiyamat?
