Seriously, I don’t get this. Why are we comparing Dr Zakir Naik with learned scholars? As far as I know no one’s going to him seeking help on fiqh issues. Rather people look to him to explain why Islam is the right religion for them. The duty he’s carrying out is a LOT different to what scholars do. Why can’t we let it rest at that? Once again, why all the hating and bashing? I never watch Islamic programmes on tv, but when I see him on I do stop and listen. Isn’t that a good thing? Judging from the replies in this thread, you’d think Dr Zakir Naik was a kafir or a hypocrite. What the bloody ****.

I agree with this entirely it would be wrong to compare the two, but that is what I was doing to demonstrate a point … I think the thread just went in that direction. Dr. Zakir Naik has indeed done a lot of positive work for Islam and Muslims.
