Dr. Sher Afgan Niazi manhandled by lawyers-Aitezaz plans to resign as President SCBA

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

There were also other violent attacks, including against a female civil judge, and threats by the lawyer leaders to burn the Supreme Court and lock up the judges. Yes, Aitzaz Ahsan did not resign then, nor did he condemn these leaders.

I think Aitzaz Ahsan's dressing down by Zardari did play a part in him resigning, and Ch.Iftikhar cancelling his rallies. Zardari just got fed up with these people threatening everyone, and taking credit for democracy etc.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

Dr Farooq Naik the PPP Law Minister has just stated on ARY that we asked the police to lay off the lawyers out of respect for them. But they ignored our goodwill. So now they have crossed all boundaries of criminality in this attack, so orders to the police will now be to start taking sterner action against the lawyers.

The minister was highly embarrassed by what the lawyers had done, and was angry at the tv presenter asking him questions as to why the police were told to lay off the lawyers.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

:D write what you want. The people are with the lawyers. PPP cannot act against he lawyers. If they do they will lose popular support in Punjab :)
So lets hope the lawyers target the Chaudry lotas soon if they have the manhood to leave Gujrat :D

Violence breaks out in Mianwali

Updated at: 2110 PST, Tuesday, April 08, 2008

MIAWALI: The riots broke out in the wake of manhandling of Dr Sher Afgan Khan Niazi in Lahore. The protesters here blocked Sargodha Road in protest against the event with Niazi.

Sher Afgan who came to a lawyer’s chamber at Mozang Road, Lahore, was besieged by the lawyers, planning to beat him.

After three hours, lawyers leader Aitezaz Ahsan interrupted and rescued him by escorting to the ambulance. However in the meantime, he was hit and drag by the inflamed people there.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

Its too bad that a handfull of his relatives are protesting in Mianwalli. But the rest of the country (excet MQM wallas) are cheeringa s Mushys lotas get humiliated and beat up.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

Maybe he's stepping down for bigger position!!.....Remember he is considering running for the elections on one sure ticket.

PML (N) already offered him a ticket. He wants to run from PPP platform.

I do admire him stepping down, however sudden it maybe.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

ARY has stated that Aitzaz Ahsan tried to stop the media from filming this criminal attack by his lawyer friends. Supreme hypocrisy from the man who claims he is fighting some sort of freedom struggle!

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

remind me again why he boycotted the election last time?

I think him and Zardari did a deal..he resigns, runs for the elections, gets some cabinet position in return he stops the whole restoration of judges business. Ifti has already taken a step back and looks like deals are being cut with him to give him a role that will satisfy him.

and thats how it goes..

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

People who tortured and massacred others who disagreed with their policies, all in the name of "national interest", deserve worse.

Shame, the present prevalent form of government is unable to bring these criminals of yesterdays to justice.

Yesterday's opressor was the opressed today. I dont see whats the big deal in that? He didn't even get to taste one millionth of what he and his folks delivered to other Pakistanis.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

Although, i already said what has happened is sad.

But just out of curiousity, how many of you 'Crying Foul' folks condemned the acts that took place where lawyers, common citizens, school kids, and protesters were arrested, beaten and humiliated?

I still say Hats off to the lawyers for their endurance, they cut into their incomes to fight for the integrity of the Judicial system, while the ministers were sitting around drinking down a cold one and talking about how to remain in power longer, at any cost.

More people are gonna respect Aitzaz Ehsan even more for him resigning promptly as an act of responsibilty (something our leaders can learn from). Although, i'm skeptical about the motives behind a sudden resignition.

I am deeply saddened by what has happened because it gives bad name to Democracy.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

Sher Afgan is a respectable personality of Pakistan. I hope the culprits of this crime get caught as soon as possible .

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

^I agree @ getting caught. Because i have a reason to believe there are crude elements involved in this.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

People will see on tv how he stood up on the ambulance and waved to the attacking lawyers, who proceeded to cheer him, leaving the impression that he was leading this terroristic attack. The TV channels are reporting how he tried to stop them filming the attack, and are taking him to task for the behaviour of his supporters.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

^Reporters have said, he was telling the lawyers to move out of the way and let the vehicle leave. Majority of lawyers followed him back and stopped protesting.

How do you know the ones doing all the beating were actually lawyers? Could be crude elements dressed as lawyers, mixed in the crowd?

An investigation should be performed promptly. And it should be transparent and thorough.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

^

ARY was saying Aitzaz Ahsan was telling them to stop filming the attack.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

How did you believe it then.....When all these same "lawyers " were protesting against musharraf/in favor of CJ, that they were "actually" the lawyers.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

Aitzaz Ahsan is a cunning man.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

I agree that is very wrong.

It's much worse when the entire network is taken down for weeks/months on end to hide bigger atrocities.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

Crude elements like the very TOP leaders of the Lawyers movement you mean? Note the following:-

“Lawyers will burn that Supreme Court, which will give the verdict in CJ case like that of Maulvi Tamizuddin case.” - **Former SCBA president Munir A Malik **

“If the Supreme Court gives a verdict in favour of Musharraf, we will lock the Supreme Court building,” - Pakistan Bar Council member Ali Ahmed Kurd.

Re: Aitzaz Ehsan resigns

And these lawyers are going to bring back law and order to Pakistan? These "lawyers" must be really proud of themselves! Chanting our President is a kutta and a pimp on streets and beating up politicians they don't like ain't no big deal for them. I can't tell you how proud i am to be a Pakistani because of these lawyers. Who cares about the prices of daal and roti going up? Who cares about poor people killing themselves and their children because they can't afford to buy food for their families? Who gives a damn about educating people? parh likh ker kia kerna hai? THIS IS EXACTLY THE KIND OF JUSTICE, DEMOCRACY AND AZAADI WE NEED RIGHT NOW!
