I like Dr. Shaista but i'll say it again, I don't like the fact that she and many other people who choose to do MBBS/MD change their field. They could've given someone else a chance to make a difference. NO its not about giving medic or helping someone out .. my thing is.. with medicine being so competitive in Pakistan, some needy as in financialy needy person could've really used that seat. My husband is a doc, all my siblings are my MIL and FIL are docs as well. I know they've worked hard and I see how much they love helping others and making a difference. If its just about making more money WHY WASTE THE SEAT. Everyone realizes that in Pakistan there is more money in media .. ok fine .. so lets not waste the seat and get admission in a college/university that gives degree in media/communication.
This thread I guess is not about hating her on personal level, but hating on the fact that many people like herself waste seats to have that DR in front of their name.
Yes, basically my response to those who think this is a personal gripe thread. It's not. I'm questioning, why we as society respect these sort of people by continuing to call them "doctor", why they resort to switching out of their fields, and how much of that is attributable to pressure from the in-laws.
And is getting a medical degree for girls just something to add to their rishtaa cv??
