If i had a magic lamp one wish would be to speak every language in the world…there is so much fun to be had…
One specific example is some time a couple of years ago when i used to cornrow my hair…
I went into a newsagent and started looking around…suddenly i heard one of the guys say to the other…‘isko ghorr se dekho…kuch churayga woh’
Lol i picked up my packet of crisps went to the counter and said ‘mehre barey me baat kareyho’…the look on their faces were priceless…i simply said’kitna hein crisp’ and he answered in english and then i left…
I wish there were more languages i could do this in…like suddenly shock some chinese people or some random african tribal language…
Anyone had any funny instances where someone was talking about them and they understood?..

That's quite funny NBN, amazing how cornrows can cause such havoc...!
I actually speak a dialect of Creole Patois quite fluently...which originates from certain islands in the Carribean...I've often encountered situations where I've been in the company of other people who speak the language but would never expect a Pakistani girl to know it...
On the whole I just end up overhearing general small talk, but there have been some occasions where specific references have been made to me...and it's kinda weird...you suddenly know what people really think of you without their knowledge...luckily it's never been bad stuff...so far...!
The worst though has to be if the guys say naughty/inappropriate things...then I either intervene and have to let on that I understand them or I get embarrased and move away, knowing that it's better avoid them now I know their intentions :D
Re: Dont you love it when people talk about in a language they think you dont underst
We had a gora English guy come to install the windows in our house. While he was working my parents were discussing right behind him in urdu if they should offer him tea when he turns round and says "Aap log Pakistan say hai?"
Turns out that when he was a kid, his family lived in Saudi Arabia and when his father wanted him to go to boarding school abroad, rather than pay the UK boarding school fees someone recommended a really cheap (by comparison) English-medium boarding school in Lahore called Aitchinson College.

Then what happened?
