This is my only "Posting" name.
Yes it sounds "Phamiliar" - A sizable number of Indians have similar sounding names.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI
your post makes very little sense. this is not a legal issue to be adjudicated in a court of law.
the IPL is not the ranji trophy. it is a highly internationalized tournament with cricketers from all countries participating...so it's reasonable for a pakistani cricketer to express displeasure with the fact that pakistan was the only country to be excluded.
with that said, i'm not sure that anybody knows why they were excluded from IPL 4. that was never really made clear or even highlighted in the media (unlike IPL 3).
Not exactly true. IPL is an Indian tournament accredited by ICC, which allows the franchisees to play a max of 4 international players in their playing XI. End of the day, BCCI calls the shots in IPL.
Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI
Just for the record i want to bring it up that not all pakistanis are excluded from IPL4. They may not have the players on the ground but pakistan has its presence in the form of tv experts, commentators and coaches.
I for one open to inviting our neighbors for the event and please stop this stupid auction thing. seems like we are back in the slavery era. ![]()
they can do decent “drafting” just like NFL.
Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI
I think you guys may be missing some finer points here, assuming Afridi made this statement:
1) what is wrong in his saying that Pak players should not neglected in IPL? Our two countries have to be able to work on multiple fronts through good and bad. Cutting of relations - political, commercial, sports, cultural - may be necessary for short durations due to attacks such as Mumbai attack but the long term approach has to be more interactions, not less
2) WHat is wrong with Afridi wanting more opportunities for himself and players to make more money the legal way? Would you prefer that he also work with crooks like Majed and Dawood?
3) Inclusion will open more opportunties for young players to play with other international players which will be great for the country
I think he is showing leadership.
I am not a fan of Afridi or IPL but what he said here is not wrong IMO
Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI
^ Nothing wrong with Afridi asking to be considered for IPL as long as PCB has not objections. But the ultimate decision is that of the BCCI/franchisees/Indian govt. and thats what has prevented Pakistani players from playing in IPL after the innaugural season.

you are making the same irrelevant argument. nobody is arguing about who calls the shots or claiming that pakistani cricketers have an inalienable right to play in the ipl.
the point is that all the other countries are involved and there are large numbers of foreigners playing in the tournament. pakistanis are the only ones not in the tournament and not because of talent issues. without a convincing reason as to why that is the case, we are entitled to pass judgment (including afridi). this is a court of opinion not of law.
Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI
@The_Player: ofcourse.
Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI
afridi needs to stay off the media
he obviously cannot handle it

I am responding to your assertion that IPL is an international(ized) tournament. Its not - its an Indian tournament with limited foreign participation. And BCCI calls the shots on who those players/countries should be. Ideally its all the ICC countries, but in specific cases like this one Pakistan is not included (and not due to lack of talent).
Now I am not quite sure what your point is...

I am not a fan of Afridi or IPL but what he said here is not wrong IMO
1) He is demanding that "Pakistanis should not be neglected" by the IPL.
Cutting off relations - political, commercial, sports, cultural etc. : This is the prerogative of the one who has suffered!
2) He must look to further opportunities for himself and his players wherever he-they is Invited. He should not demand "Maan Na Maan, Mein Tera Mehmaan".
I look forward to the day when the IPL "Invites" Pakistani Players. It is not the "Right" of Pakistani or any other National including Indian Players to "Demand" an Inclusion.
3) Surely the responsibility of opening more opportunities for young Players of Pakistan is the responsibility of the PCB - and has nothing to do with BCCI or India.
If this was the case than India would "Demand" Transit Rights for Trade between India and Afghanistan as well as the Central Asian Republics.
Such a facility is totally within the ambit of the Pakistani Authorities. Suffice to say I totally support the Pakistani stance.
Likewise.....
Showing Leadership : Now you are being naïve.
BTW : You are welcome to your opinion and trust you will accord me the same Luxury.

very well said LA...yes I agree that "ghairat" and “nationalistic attitude” is also important but based on what he said about IPL, I don’t see him being terribly wrong...just for a second, forget what he said last week about indians (i know it is hard to forget but just pretend for a second), and then analyze this current statement of afridi....i am sure had afridi not said that stupid stuff, even majority of Indian posters would have supported afridi's stand in regards to IPL…..i mean, you are sidelining only one country plus lets face it….while our reveneue-generation life is 40 years or so, players play for 10-15 years only….hate to say this but narkumar shame on you for using afridi’s statement as an opportunity to fuel the fire…if you want no interaction between Indian and pakistani people and want us to start our own IPL, then that is perfectly fine…but I am sure majority of Indian public wants to see Pakistani players in action..so not problem with afridi on tis one but cant believe what he said last week…that was horrendous, irresponsible and childish…

Stop your emotional twisting. Afridi sees what he is missing. Few days ago Indians had little hearts and the same guy making himself untouchable from Indians (when he needs money). Shame on him.
I do not know which Indians told you to see Pakistani players in IPL. Truth be told, majority of Indians do not care who play in IPL. If you want a job in India ( for that matter any where in the world), be humble and respect the local people.

I am an Indian player. I know so many players in the team (Kolkata Knight Riders Team). One player was asked to come off the field and when he came off the field he asked "Why did you want me to come off the field? One of the coaches in KKR says *'You Indian, you do what I ask you to do'**," he said.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI
iam not a big fan of IPL due to way too many matches
but i have no problems with pakistani players,it can only increase the quality of the league.especially with player like afridi who took 21 wickets on similar kind of picthes.
if he had been in auction, probably would have been highest paid international player.
Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI
pakistanis should now show some selfrespect and understand that they r not welcome in ipl-evry year they cry for the same reason-they should focus in there own league good for them

excuse me? so what was the emotional part in my post? help me again....and what do you mean by saying "if you want a job in india"? a job in india!....oh bhai sahib, it is not an IT job for which we are applying and competing against local indians...it is an international tournament in which every cricket-playing nation is playing...yes indians are organizing but it is a freakin for-profit show....by having pakistani stars in the show, these franchises will also make more money and they will buy only those paki players which will increase their revenue generation capabilities....no one is begging anyone...whichever player has a worth will be treated based on his value...it is all commercial...
and by not allowing pakistani players to play in an international tournament (especially this year), don't you think that BCCI and india is essentially providing some support to afridi's claim of last week? think about it....and before you start jumping up and down pointing fingers at me and start calling me a"racist animal", just think about it....all i am trying to say here is that what kind of message BCCI, india and indian people send to pakistani people when they do not allow pakistani players to play in IPL, especially this year when things are getting back to normal?...aap log kis munh say mohabbat, bhai charay and payar kee batien kartay hein? at least that is how masses in pak would view it...and afridi specifically said that he is not interested in playing IPL himself (at least that is what i read in dawn, news and jang)...he is more keen about our young players to have some quality experience and make decent money in the due process...
