DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

Ehsan Bhai,

I would never imagine anybody more so the Captain of the Pakistani Cricket Team - especially after making the “defamatory, derogatory and hateful statements” - to go down and start begging to EARN MONEY, FAME AND FORTUNE in India’s IPL.

I think a Signature Petition should be made to All Pakistani Cricket Players to eschew the very idea of taking part in the IPL until the India-Pakistan relationship is normalized :

Don’t treat us as “untouchables”, Afridi’s appeal to BCCI

NEW DELHI : Shahid Afridi feels deeply hurt and has appealed to the Indian cricket board that Pakistan players shouldn’t be treated as “untouchables” when it comes to including them in the cash-rich Indian Premier League.

“It is high time that Pakistani cricketers should also get a place in IPL. For three seasons including the current one, we haven’t been a part of the IPL. We have no problems playing in India as we have just played a World Cup semifinal there. We are deeply hurt that they are treating us like ‘untouchables’,” Afridi said from Karachi.

He further added that Pakistani public feel hurt that their players are not playing in IPL.

“I am not saying that I want to play IPL but it could be a great platform for youngsters. They could make a mark for themselves.”

As many as 11 Pakistan players were part of inaugural season of IPL in 2008. Afridi was the costliest Pakistani player who was bagged by the Hyderabad team for $675,000.

Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Mohammad Hafeez and Salman Butt (Kolkata Knight Riders), Younis Khan, Sohail Tanveer and Kamran Akmal (Rajasthan Royals), Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Asif ( Delhi Daredavils) and Misbah Ul Haq (Royal Challangers Banglore) were the other players .

Pakistani players missed out on the 2009 and 2010 editions due to security concerns in the wake of Mumbai terror attacks.

Afridi has said that Indian PM Manmohan Singh’s invitation to Pakistani PM for the semifinals was a positive sign and that is the way to go forward.

“Our PM Yusuf Raza Gilani responded in positive on that invitation. Now IPL can be a platform to further ease the tension,” he said.

“We should play more and more against each other. This will not only ease the pressure but will also reduce the unwanted media hype surrounded with Indo-Pak matches,” he said.

For Afridi, Indo- Pak matches are not war as players of both teams share great rapport off the field.

“On field, yes there are moments of pressure and tension whenever we play but off it, we are all friends. I share great bond with Harbhajan and respect Sachin a lot,” said Afridi.

On his criticism of Gautam Gambhir’s statement about dedicating the WC win to the people who died in Mumbai terror attack, Afridi said that he did not say anything about Gambhir.

“I never heard Gautam saying anything like that, so how could I react over that. It is ridiculous,” he said.

Ehsan Bhai : Please note

  1. The IPL is an Independent Body and thus can chose its Participants.

  2. The IPL is an Indian Domestic Organization and Pakistanis or any other Non-Indians have any right of Participation “per se”. Indeed no Indian has a “Right” to be selected to play for the Teams comprising the IPL.

  3. It is unimaginable for the Pakistani Public to feel hurt at their Players not being included in the IPL. The next thing is for them to feel hurt at other Indian Institutions i.e. Business, Educational, Industrial, Health, Welfare, Defence, Government Services etc. etc. i.e. Every Indian Institution not employing and/or not including Pakistanis in their Institutions.

It would be a sad day if indeed statements were to be made of the Pakistani People being hurt at not being included in EVERY INDIAN ACTIVITY-SPHERE in India.

I trust that we can have a healthy discussion of Mr. Afridi’s latest “Wish List”.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

IPL Sucks. May be getting Pakistani players such as Umar Akmal, Afridi, Gul, Ajmal, and Hafeez will pump some life in this trash cricket league!

DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

Well! Well!! Well!!!

You are not being compelled to watch it!

An ideal solution is for the PCB to start a PPL and invite all the World's Cricketers EXCLUDING THE INDIANS!!

I am sure you will agree with me.

Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI

O mere bhai this is not what afridi said awain apni taraf se na a ker banaya kro thread

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

No thanks.

I did watch the world cup and gave credit to Indians for winning it and being the best team in the tournament so if you are being nationalistic (as you idiotic post about PPL suggests) about IPL than you need to accept criticism given to IPL without getting emotional about how India is Mahan. Nobody is criticizing India as a country buddy! get off your high horse Charlie!

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

:D Wasn't there another thread about IPL where many posters said that Pakistani players are not interested in taking part in IPL ?

Doesn't seem like that is the case from this letter by Afridi.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

Whoa!

Why is my suggestion for PCB to start a PPL idiotic? Pakistan has a great wealth of Cricketers as well as Cricket Fans – nearly 200 Million of them. I am absolutely convinced that the PPL will be a Success.

I am neither being nationalistic nor “getting emotional about how India is MAHAN” and I have not even mentioned about anybody criticising India.

All I have stated is that “You are not being compelled to watch it” and as such I cannot appreciate your “getting hetup”.

Once again, do not doubt the ability of the PCB starting a PPL and making it a resounding success.

So get off your low horse, Ol’ bean”. This will stop you from being intellectually challenged.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

I think by now even Afridi and Co. should've realised that they r not welcome coz they r Pakistani ...... Agar abh bhi samajh nahi aiee to phir Allah Hi Hafiz

I mean what's the point to curry favor with BCCI ..... It's team isn't going to play a Bi-lateral Series with u in the next few years ..... PCB itself or Pakistan Admins shot themselve into foot for having dumba$$es as PCB Management ..... The only positive for Pakistan Cricket in the Past few months have come more from this teams performance on the field rather than PCBs Actions off it

So if u r after the Dollar$$ then go do something else ..... otherwise just shut up and Put up ur best every time u enter the field while wearing a Pakistan Jersey coz this Jersey gave u the name & fame u now have ..... don't forget this ever

Ghairat bhi koi cheez hoti hay ...... Had any of Akmals said that i wouldn't reacted this way but it coming from Afridi it's sad ..... Come on man for a ODI captain u have some Goals that still need to be achieved ..... an ODI series win against RSA .... An ICC Champions Trophy Win (if it's not scrapped) and more

Great leaders think in 5-10-15-20 years span ..... but watching this i think foreseeing/planning even 1 year ahead has become difficult ..... courtesy PCB

Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI

I am not disputing that there are two different versions as even Cricinfo is “sourcing” the News to PTI.

Even in the Cricinfo statement he is indeed “demanding” inclusion of Pakistani Players in the IPL as follows :

Some may call it “Demanding”, some may call it “Beseeching”, some may call it “Supplicating” and some may even call it “Begging”.

As such it is high time that the PCB started a PPL and most specifically “EXCLUDE” the small as well as not-good hearted Indians.

Thus Pakistani Cricket will reach the Exalted Heights it is destined to attain.

Best of Luck to the PCB in starting a PCL.

P.S. : Would Pakistani or any other players demand to be included in the English County Cricket or in the Australian as well as other National Cricket Tournaments?

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

Another goof-up by Afridi

A polite way of saying to BCCI 'Honey, Honey, Stop being Funny, Give us some IPL Money!'

Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI

Do u think we will believe this news …as this news is by Indian media

Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI

^ yaar formating to theek kar do … it’s a pain to read :smack:

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

I only believe in Cricinfo news .....not indian media anymore

DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

That is indeed the Second Best Way.

The "Best Way" is for the PCB to start a PPL and EXCLUDE Indians from Participation not only as Players but also as Spectators.

Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI

:khums:
narkumar…multinik of which other poster?

sounds awfully familiar?

Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI

Sir, this “Phormating” in indeed a problem. It can only be “edited out” after “Posting” the reply.

I am open to any other “Methods”

Thanks in advance.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

Thanx for clarification as i didn't know it :D

Re: DON’T TREAT US AS “UNTOUCHABLES”, AFRIDI’S APPEAL TO BCCI

This is my only “Posting” name.

Yes it sounds “Phamiliar” - A sizable number of Indians have similar sounding names.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

Kind Sir, PTI stands for Press Trust of India!

It is as Indian as it gets.

Re: DON'T TREAT US AS "UNTOUCHABLES", AFRIDI'S APPEAL TO BCCI

your post makes very little sense. this is not a legal issue to be adjudicated in a court of law.

the IPL is not the ranji trophy. it is a highly internationalized tournament with cricketers from all countries participating...so it's reasonable for a pakistani cricketer to express displeasure with the fact that pakistan was the only country to be excluded.

with that said, i'm not sure that anybody knows why they were excluded from IPL 4. that was never really made clear or even highlighted in the media (unlike IPL 3).
