Very good post guys.
All this post is saying that "Do not waste hard earned pounds (money and not your weight) to get a BS degree from UK".
That's all.
To all those who are struggling here in Pakistan, it is a very simple and inexpensive way to get your basic education in Pakistan BEFORE you head to other countries.
Option #1. If you wanted to be an Engineer, but failed to get the super high marks in FSc, and you don't have sifarish, then do the following:
Get a BSc (4 years) [or 2 years BSc and 2 years MSc] in Maths and apply for Masters or PhD in Engineering in the West.
Option #2. If you wanted to be in the medicine, but failed to get into a Pakistani med school,
then get your BSc (4 years) in Biology, Chemistry etc. and then apply for Masters or PhD in Biology or Chemistry etc. in the West. Yes you may not get admission in the medical schools, but you will get an MS or PhD in your field and that will allow you to stay and work in the West.
These options will give you many more opportunities in the West, and reduce the amount of money you need to "borrow" from your parents / family.
Your future is a serious business. So when you go with option #1 or #2, do not waste your time in the chatrooms, or hanging out with friends. Be the best mathematician, or biologist, or Chemist. Get the best grades, and learn every aspect of your field of study.
Then you apply to good schools in USA. Their graduate programs GIVE YOU MONEY and PAY your FEES.
If you can't get in the USA, then go for UK, or Australia.
p.s. Please do not give lectures on going "back home". Today we live in global society, and good global workers should be allowed to work wherever they want to work.
i've been in education for quite some time and in various universities. to be quite honest, i do not know many bachelors degree students from pakistan who's parents are not well off, only the rich seem to come for their undergradute degrees (at the top universities).
it's already mainly the MSc's and the PhD's who come for serious study, whose families are not well-off and who have studied very hard in their own country to give them the opportunity to come here.
it's undeniable that many get admission in a crappy uni and get a crappy grades for the only reason of trying to settle here. then they can't get jobs and their families are put in even more difficulty. if this stops that, then it can only be a good thing.
