“And not only that, but (Justice Kennedy) said in session that he does his own research on the Internet? That is just incredibly outrageous” - Tom De Lay, Majority Leader, US House of Representatives
Wow!
So will it be ok to ask a staff person to do research on your behalf, or may be judges ought not to do any research at all? I guess we can expect myvoice to provide his expert opinion on why it is alright to singlout and criticize a Supreme Court judge appointed by President Ronald Reagan, for doing research.
Re: Doing your own research on the internet - outrageous!!!
When it comes to case law there are resources that lawyers use to get information. If Kennedy is using the internet to gauge public sentiment to influence his decision, then it is wrong.
Some lawyer aka bloodsucker can probably give a better rationale.
Re: Doing your own research on the internet - outrageous!!!
and....
most internet sources are opinion based and not fact based or at the very least slanted. Most of us can tell the difference but a lot of people take things at face value.
Re: Doing your own research on the internet - outrageous!!!
Say for example Justice Kennedy comes to Gupshup and actually believes CM, or AK47, or some other gasbag!
After being here HOW long you have to question the internet as a valid source? Imagine Kennedy coming to Gupshup to learn about Islam and finding some bonehead kid insulting the Pope. The Patriot Act would be a defacto Constitutional Amendment if he knew what you all were really like! :)
Re: Doing your own research on the internet - outrageous!!!
What is incredibly outrageous is Tom Delay. He is an embarrassment to himself, his party, his institution and anything else he represents. I hope he ends up under the jailhouse for his dishonest and immoral activities.
Re: Doing your own research on the internet - outrageous!!!
He is such a ******* and the heat is finally causing some action.

House Ethics Panel to Probe Tom DeLay
WASHINGTON (AP) – Retreating under pressure, Republicans on the House ethics committee said Wednesday they were ready to open an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing against Majority Leader Tom DeLay.
Four of the five Republicans on the committee were ready to move ahead, said Rep. Doc Hastings, the panel’s Republican chairman. The panel also has five Democratic members.
The Republicans were “prepared to vote at the earliest opportunity to empanel an investigations subcommittee to review various allegations concerning travel and other actions” by DeLay, he said.
The ethics committee has authority to start an investigation based on information it receives “through public and other sources,” Hastings said.
