Anyway, yes absolutely you're right about the freedom of speech issue. That maulvi should be free to spout whatever backwards ideas he wants to. The SAD part is that people follow him so adherently and that EVEN THE EDUCATED pakistanis will stand behind him before they'll admit that one of "their own" may have evil intentions or may be too ignorant or may be misleading his people.
When there are ignorant preachers in USA like those really loud-n-popular southern baptist types, they can and have said some pretty ignorant things. But - in the big difference here - the US media AND the people ridicule them publicly to the point that they either shut up and crawl back under their rock or they end up publicly apologizing for their ignorance and stupidity.
So sad that when it happens in pakiland, people do nothing but defenddefenddefend, denydenydeny.

Thats the question of the day, one which has been avoided at all costs by each and every one of the "defenders". I mean personally I could care less WHAT he says...at least until he affects global attempts to eradicate crippling childhood disease. That affects each and every single one of us.
