tahzeeb kay dairay mein rehtay huay likha ja sakta hai toh irshaad, agar naheen toh zaati-paigham mein irsaal kijye. meherbaani

I think Hindi people are doing better job in translations. They have bullay baaz (batsman), door darshan (television) and what not

I think Hindi people are doing better job in translations. They have bullay baaz (batsman), door darshan (television) and what not
well coming up with new words is rather ridiculous, i recall hearign terms like phakphak adda for trainstation and similarly stupid names for telephone, mailbox etc, but for words that exist I dont understand why theya re abandoned, i can understand that some of them are old fashioned or tough, but I dont understand why bhai is bhai and behen is sister.

I know that in all the religious oriented gatherings, they refer to all the ladies as sisters but then in turn, ladies do say brother(s), too, to the guys

Janab bohat saarey alfaz aisay haiN jo kay majmooi tor pay tarjamey kay bagair istimaal kiye jaatey hain. Jaisa kay "computer", "telephone or phone", "Internet" wagera wagera.
Ab chuN kay ye hamari ijaad nahi haiN, to hamarey paas in kay liye tarjama karna bhi mushkil hay.
German log sab say ziada apni zuban kay mutalik pareshaan rehtay haiN, lekin ye oopar waley alfaaz ka tarjama to unhuN nay bhi nahi kiya (OK for computer they have the word "Rechner", but very rarely someone uses it).

^^ Actually that is exactly what Urdu Dictionary Board is suppose to do. Maybe it wil never become the norm, but we should find the word, like keyboard is '' Kuleedi takhta",although we always say keyboard

urdu kay murdaad zaban ( dead lingo) honay kee waja serif yeahee hai kay , is mein Shairoo Shaheere or adaab kay ilawaa , kissi or sinaaf mein qabilaay zikar kaam nahee ho.raha hai !

bachay gushal khana is the right term. ppl still use such terms 
Kids around ( am sure it was my walida mohtarma who told me abt the students) say " miss bathroom aya hai." :–(

it is, and its not in a religious context. I dont know if it is a karachi thing, but its not new, even when i had moved to karachi in the 80s i found it strange.
