Khair urdu maiN kehtay to kuch aur haiN. Aap nay sharaafat say kaam liya hai.

The reason behind not doing it while standing is not only because of hygiene and to prevent cloths from drop.

What if you are not wearing any cloths and ready to take bath and just before that you do "number 1". Is it Ok to stand then. I dont think so

The main reason to follow it is simply because its Sunnah. like using right hand to eat, even if we are using spoon to eat, or even when we are drinking water (as by using spoon or cups, our left fingers dont touch the food, so no arguement about right hand is cleaner then left can be applied)

whats with desis and having to use english terms instead of urdu terms. ji mujhe washroom/bathroom jana hai, kyun? urdu mein lafz naheen hai kya?

the one that makes me laugh is when ppl in Pakistan refer to their own sister or to the sister of teh person they are speaking to, and they dont use teh word behen, but say sister? why is that..kher diff topic

Janaab, Lucknow walay he nahiN, Koee' bhee log "Mootna" zaban pay nahIn latay. Pretty un-hygenic habbit. Only exception wa Marajee Desai, jo mootna zabaan per lay atay thay

But we also use, Kitchen jana hai, Bedroom maiN jao. When was the last time you said "Bawarchi Khana" yaa "Khawaab Gah".

yes and why call rikabis plates...sheesh, or katoras bowls. so embarssing to see ppl moving away from national language. but bhai is bhai..behen is sister...kyun?

btw I still call rose bowl as katora-e-gulab

Hazrat aap bataiN isko Urdu maiN kiya kehtay haiN?

I know these versions:

1) When in family: maiN zara toilet ja raha huN; OR
maiN washroom say ho kay aya.
2) when in the company of male friends: "Sheeday yaar, maiN zara dhaar maar kay aya"

Other possibility could be "maiN zara haajat rafah kar kay aya";
OR
"maiN zara haajat khaaney ja raha huN"

The last two are not used very commonly.

Any other possibilities you guys know?

LOL. I don't know anyone who uses complete urdu anymore and if someone does..it may sound weird.
The other I called a friend of mine and her dad said "woh GHUSAL KHANAY main hain'....
It was a little weird. Nobody says those things anymore.

thats teh dilemma, if i had gone for that no one would have understood :)

btw urdu distionary board in Karachi had a big sign on it in engluis that said urdu dictionary board, which was okay, but then there was another sign in urdu that read..urdu dictionary board..sigh
