I don't have a dog phobia, but I try not to go near them cuz I don't want my clothes to become dirty cuz then you can't read namaaz in them. And sorry but I feel really nasty if I am even near a dog cuz of that reason. But I do the same I change my path or go on the other side so the dog doesn't come near me.
I don't understand how people can be scared of dogs - they are just so cute and adorable (apart from pit bulls and rottweilers).
I only avoid dogs if I know I'm wearing clothes that I'll be wearing for praying. Otherwise, I'm all over them. There are almost few things as cute as a dog that's getting all active and excited cos it's knows you're paying it attention.
Hmm - dogs are like girls in that respect. They start acting cute when you pay them attention :D
OG: Yes Chows are not the friendliest dogs and as a matter of fact, there two type of breeds that are not allowed in Narc training Chow is one of 'em. They are very smart dogs, just aloof, their personality is more like a cat.
This Chow was rescued in Bay Area SF (the shelters there put 'em to sleep after a week or so and that was unacceptable) and brought to NY.
The cat, I found a few thanksgivings ago outside my sis-in-laws house (he was separated or abondaned, he was 3/4/5 wks old) so brought him in and ever since he's been a part of familia.
Lab was given to me as a birthday gift after my failed attempts at teaching buddy to retrieve objects from the water.
OG, your dogs look so strong...they're really in good hands, and yeah you can tell they're not fat. Those dogs know who the boss is. Our alsations were closest to my dad and my sister, and they knew that I was a tad bit scared of them! Is the one at the front a girl?
Don't drink beer, despite the look. The picture was taken right after I retired from my company, and I was literally on a plane every day. Too much travel, and it takes it's toll.
Catty,
Yes, the Shepards are very sensitive to who is the "Alpha Dog" you have to be in control with them. The little dog in front is a sweetie, but she is still almost 80 lbs, and very athletic. She will chase balls at full speed until she literally drops from exhaustion. Have had to cool her off with the hose more than once. She is very loving and obedient, but is explosive around other dogs. She thinks that she has to defend you from even the smallest dog. They are both very smart, and loyal, and great family pets. Oddly enough, they are great swimmers, which is usually what you would think of with labs, not Shepards. They will swim for hours in a reservoir nearby. I would imagine you miss yours alot, even though they may have bonded more with your dad...
VZ,
My wife has 2 cats, Tom and Jerry. Neither of them has ever lept like that. They specialize in sleeping. They tolerate me.....
What is it with Pakistani girls and dogs? The amount of times I have seen that scene from East is East (where those two shalwar kameez clad girls do a runner when they see the dog) outside my own front door
And it’s not just girls. I read sommat in the newspaper recently about a poor paki bloke from Bradford that was on some sort of A level field trip in Cornwall. He saw a dog approaching him so did a runner and fell off a cliff. Poor kid died.
I love dogs but I have to be careful they don’t sniff my clothes because it napaks them.
As a kid I’d pick stray orphaned puppies of the streets and take them home, they were sooo cute looking with cute smelling breath, my parents didn’t like that they would always tell me to put them where I found them but my granddad is a religious man and I always got the better of him saying it'll be sawaab to look after them coz they're only young and orphaned, so he’d negotiate with my parents to let me keep them till they could fend for themselves, but even he didn’t let me keep them at home as apparently farishtas don’t enter a house with dogs so I had to keep them in the bethak.
All baby animals are cute and pretty from a distance, which is where I like to see them. I don't run on sight of a dog, I just turn stiff and freeze and apologize to the dog owner for my cold absurd behaviour.
