I need to ask you more questions maybe later, mainly because we will be buying a puppy soon, and I have a perception that there is a lot of taboo attached to the ownership of dog amongst Muslim Desis living in west

It was a white german-shepherd…it grew very quickly and became pretty jumpy and almost uncontrollable for me (I was 9)…had to give it away. The memory of it still makes me sad.

Also, I think it’s a good idea to introduce your kids to dogs and their behaviour (especially if you live in West) so the kids can come over their fear of dogs. You must have some shelter for dogs type organizations where your kids can volunteer looking after a dog?

The biggest issue about dogs in my perception is the saliva … it seems that gets in places and the second biggest issue if the hair … they are not always soft like cat hair - they are often wiry and brush like …

The Prophet (PBHUH) has his saying that angels of mercy do not enter a house that has a dog in it. In Islam dogs are considered napak and haram and so is their saliva. However, some Islamic jurists have said that it is permissible to have a dog only in circumstances of shepparding or as a hunter dog, If you are muslim then better keep something that is halal like a sheep , goat or a bird but not a dog.
A SAHIH Hadith is presented Below :
I heard Allah’s Apostle(P.B.U.H) saying; “Angels (of Mercy) do not enter a house wherein there is a dog or a picture of a living creature (a human being or an animal).” Hadith - Bukhari 3:515

Us Karachi people know not to run. You just find a big stone, pick it up and keep it with you. That said strays are usually easy scare off. Except for when you’re going out for Fajr and you encounter a whole pack. Just take a different street bub, you don’t want to mess with them.

The dogs in Sialkot are like depressed. They’re so malnutritioned that it seems they don’t even have the energy to bark at someone let alone chase them…(shukar, AH). My dadi’s home is connected to the masjid. And I have heard that at the time of Fajar azaan…they start barking like crazy. I wonder why.
