I've met many eligible (and ineligible) men. I work in a male-dominated field anyway. And to be fair, I've felt something only twice or thrice, so I can safely say whatever you may feel for someone is not the end of the world when its gone. Those stirrings (Ahem) do come back for someone else.

Then whats the all fuss the poets cry for? Does the situation vary from person to person?

Some can move on and find a replacement or believe (waqt her zakhm ka marham hai). Baqol Shair:

Kat hi gai judai bhi, kab ye huwa ke mar gae
Tere bhi din guzar gae, mere bhi din guzar gae

Others who once self-oriented and having made their life dedicted to one person, when lose such person, can't coup with such loss and therefore don't ready to accept a replacement or new person. Baqol Shair:

Jo zindagi thi meri jaan wo tere sath gai
Ab to sirf umr ke naqshe main rung bharna hai

Time does heal all wounds. The poets wrote those lines in moments of desperation and clutching at the past. It happens to everyone, but then it passes, especially if one love (for a person) is replaced by something more exciting, forbidden and enchanting.

This is looking things with practical approach, but unfortunately when it comes to love all the practical approaches go away (at least for a short span of life). Thats why Shah Hussain said:

It all depends on the sort of person you are. Men can be emotionally attached despite everything and women can behave aloof when there's nothing to chase. Funny times we live in, all the lines are blurred into one another.

Chalen back to topic. Insaan zindagi main kitni muhabbaten kar sakta hai.

Mere khayal se aik aadh full time assignment main time muk jata hoga... aur agar choti moti khushfehmiyon ko bhi gin lia jae to ziada se ziada aadmai ek zindagi main 8-10 muhabbaten to kar leta hoga. kia khayal hai?
