Does it really get better?

I’m 12 weeks pregnant (mash’allah) and I need to know if the nausea gets any better in the 2nd trimester?
It’s so bad with me, I hardly eat anything nutricious. I try fruits and for the rest just bland things. I hate throwing up especially when I have an empty stomach :hinna:

Girls with extreme nausea/heartburn/indigestion during the 1st trimester, did it get better for you in the 2nd? I’m just so scared that it’s going to stay like this :frowning:

Re: Does it really get better?

Re: Does it really get better?

Re: Does it really get better?

i'm nearly 20 weeks now, mine subsided after 17 weeks to be honest, even now if i over eat by just a little bit or if something doesnt agree with me...barf! lol but yeah it does get better

2nd trimester is awesome alhamdulillah..way less tired and no horrible taste in mouth,
i still havent got my appetite back fully but i think that comes with time...

on the downside, my jeans are getting too tight for me, i had to open the button today and keep it open lol lucky i had a long top on, still dont really have a round bump yet, when did you girls get a fully blown bump?

I have one! and I ain’t even pregnant :hehe:

Re: Does it really get better?

Oh wow ...congrats Shinoo.. very happy for you :)

I have a full bump since I was 11 weeks and already started wearing maternity jeans from 9 or 10th week....I guess everyone is different..I was also underweight before I got pregnant so that must have something to do with sudden weight gain...Doc said it's very healthy so it's all good! :)

Re: Does it really get better?

I think I started showing at 10 or 11 weeks. I know someone who is pregnant and didn't start showing until she was in her 6th month, everyone is different.

Also, I think there is something you can take if the nausea is really bad. Ask your doctor.

Re: Does it really get better?

To be honest, I rarely remember a time when I didn't have nausea during my entire pregnancy. Thankfully there was no vomiting at all. The nausea did get slightly better in the 2nd trimester for a few weeks compared to the first, but come third trimester, it was back with full vengeance. Same with heartburn. I didn't have any meat, poultry or fish through my pregnancy.

it is different for everyone... my nauseau didn't show up till the 7th week... up till then I didn't even know I was preggers... and it has subsided a lil bit but its still there....

I started getting a slight bump at 9-10 weeks... I guess this is one of the times my being overweight was a good thing coz I didn't show... and even now I am sooo thankful to Allah I have a bump but I can still wear my pants although I have to fasten them low....

Something that helped me a lot with the nausea was dry aloo bukhara.... try it...it might help you as well...

Re: Does it really get better?

yes it does - most ppl say that nausea subsides by 2nd trimester

Re: Does it really get better?

Thanks for your replies girls!
Wow, mash’allah so many girls on GS are pregnant  May Allah swt bless us all with healthy babies insh’allah!

Since I’m only losing weight bcuz of the loss of appetite and the nausea my belly got slimmer instead of bigger  So no sign of a bump here :-/ But I was overweight when I got pregnant though so that might be another reason.

So far I’m hearing that it’ll get better between the 16th-20th week insh’allah. Both my mum and sister had extreme nausea aswell during their pregnancies so I knew I was up for the same. My sister’s nausea lasted upto the 5th month I guess :-/

Ceebs; I’m not eating any meat or fish either :bummer:

Thanks everyone

Re: Does it really get better?

Trust me it gets better, for me I had to wait till 16 th week but it got SO MUCH better and I had the worse nausea that one can have and I even posted here, I was so low.

btw I also lost weight coz of loss of appeitite ... it will get better soon and then you will love the feeling of being pregnant. hang on there.

Re: Does it really get better?

Congrats!!! im also pregnant and im at 13 weeks

My nausea is soooo bad i cannot even go into the kitchen without wanting to

throw up! my midwife sed it shud go by 16th week, so im praying it does!!

Chicken/Meat and Fish are deffo avoided too!! :bummer:

That's good...You're not supposed to gain more than 15-25 pounds anyway! :)

Re: Does it really get better?

Shinz,

I very seriously thought I would never enjoy food again. It was just terrible. The vomiting. The constant unease and nausea, during the evenings in particular. I can’t even think about it now.

Mine went away gradually. After about 15 weeks, the vomiting stopped. Then in the next few weeks, I started to get my appetite back and slowly started to enjoy some foods again. I still had some food aversions till the end, and even some nausea in the 3rd trimester, but NOTHING like the 1st trimester.

It’s amazing how it feels like it will never end, and then one day it does!

:hugz:

By the way, I lost almost 10 pounds in the first trimester; despite that, nothing fit! My shape changed very quickly and I started showing in more fitted clothes. By 8 weeks I needed maternity pants or maternity bands.
