Does Islam teach intolerance?

Do Muslims respect/ value other Muslims more than non-Muslims?

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

fundamentalist religions of any type inherently teach intolerance. In addition to being illogical, it's probably the biggest socialogical scourge that ever existed.

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

Almost all religions have a fundamentalist element and the more inclusive, tolerant version. So it's not Islam that teaches intolerance but the interpretation of Islam that is the issue.

A Christian could follow the narrow, literal fundamentalist view and be as intolerant as those on this board who say things like "Only a Muslim can feel another Muslim's pain while the kuffar can only add to the pain".

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

utd not from anything i have been taught, whether by parents or be imams. I never had rally gone to a madrissa but the teacher from a madrissa used to come to our house and help me read quraan and discuss it. From no single person that I know have I heard that a non muslim life or non muslim pain is less than that of a muslim one.

I think its less religion and more whom you feel closeness with, and whether that closeness is due to family ties, race, nationality, religion, sect or affinity for a sports team.

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

**Yes ! **

Islam teaches intollerance against ignorance, injustice cruelty so on and so forth.

Yes

Muslims (should) value and respect other muslims more than non-muslim.

What is wrong in it

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

^ Nothing if muslims are a different species...which, the more I read posts on the religion forum the more I am convinced is true. The first person who identifies this new species will win a nobel.

Sure Islam has more patience in it than any secularist-adapted religion.

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

anjaan- come on man, you know better. patience is a virtue taught in pretty much any religion that I have come across.

Minime is right... muslims are waiting for the messiah screw all this technology innovation etc...filing patents, modernizing etc..

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

I have only asked if Islam teaches patience…….and both of you became totally impatient. What is wrong with you?
Is it a crime to question on Islam?

I suppose that you would quote some verses from Quran!

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

PD.....yet another secularist interpretation of the New testament.

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

Anjjan, nothing wrong just being impatience, see, Islam teaches patience but people like me fail to act on it.

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

PD you didt learn anything from reading those Dan Brown books.

Re: Does Islam teach intolerance?

MM BJ: The only thing I learned was that jesus is a cool cat.

Gay1: There is nothing wrong with the bacchas and bacchis of America or the red light district of calcutta. If I am born there, so be it. As long as I don't come back as a fundo sunni. That would be taking a step back in evolution.
