He's not there. The name is listed on an Arabic names site, and there are 124,000 prophets (or something) so its possible Josh could be mentioned somewhere in some literature by Muslim scholars?

i think Yosha' bin Noon is recognized as a prophet in the famous book Qasas Al-Anbiyaa (Stories of the Prophets)....

he accompanied prophet musa alayhi salam in desert for 40 yrs...also Yusha' bin Nun led bani israel into yareho known as jericho
Joshua is believed to be mentioned indirectly in at least two places in the Qur'an...
(1) "Two men of those who feared, upon both of whom Allah had bestowed a favour..." (Qur'an 5:23)
One of the "two men" is said to have been Joshua as various commentators mention:
Ibn Kathir: "It is said that they were Yashu bin Noon and Kaleb..."
al Suyuti: "They were Yusha and Kaleb"
al Qurtubi: "Ibn Abbas and others have said (that) they were Yusha and Kaleb"
See also Abdullah Yusuf Ali's footnote to this verse.
(2) "Behold, Moses said to his attendant..." (Qur'an 18:60)
Commenting on "attendant":
Ibn Kathir: "Yashu bin Noon"

Yes, thats right...
his name isn't mentioned in the Qur'an but is referred with the narratives of Musa in Sura Maidah, Kahaf, Waqeah.
Yusha carried out all the assignments for Musa alayhi salaam that were previously done by harun... he appointed him his deputy before going upto mountain
So then we do recognize him. :)

The Prophet has suggested names of the Prophets or Abdullah and Abdur Rahman. He has said,
"Keep the names of the noble Prophets, Allah loves most the names Abdullah and Abdur Rahman. The most truthful names are Harith and Humam, while the most disliked are Harb and Murrah (war and bitter)."
A muslim name should be a good name , with a nice meaning... once a woman came to muhammad salallahu alayhi wasalam, whose name was `Aasiyah (sinner). The Prophet changed it to Jameela (beautiful) (ref. Tirmizi and Ibn Maajah)
Anywayyyyy , when you say yushua , one may never recognise if your son is muslim or not, wouldnt you rather have a good name and be recognised as muslim.
for example in south africa, they have distorted Uthman into ossy, Sulayman into solly.. i mean thats not the way the names become meaningless.

Anyway if that is the case , just name your son John or something ... nobody looks at your name when you get checked or searched on the street or wherever, they look at how you are and what you look like, either be a muslim or dont be its your choice, dress modestly and properly like a good muslim or dont , the judge of us all is Allah.
Whatever you decided to do , dont make a mockery of the anbiyaa and sahaaba's beloved names ...
