I started my job 4 years ago. I went on vacation only a couple of times, first time for a month & 2nd time for about 45 days… Now This time I asked him for about 2 months vactions but he said Oh no .. you can’t get that much …he was like, “Since I m in the company I didn’t even get that much” But I know there are guys who are working same as me got 2 months vacation So why can’t I … He said at time situation was a bit different. I had asked him to go in oct but he denied, I’ve already people going in oct, So I asked him when you want me to go he said you can go in dec … I said ok fine… But Now when I asked for 2 months he said ..no…He said I didn’t say that you.. you can’t go .. I mean you can’t get that much.
How can I ask him for the extra days, so he will say yes?

I feel its discrimination, if other people beside you on the same post and level can get 2 months off, why can't you?...you are no different!...i say sue him!

one option could be that you could get unpaid leave... that may make it easier for you to get the extended holidays... buts its unfair if your boss lets others go and not you...
do u work in a western country... talk to the HR manager or something if u have to to know you rights at work.

What situation?...ask him and why does this particular 'situation' make you differnt if your working on the same post as your collegues?...everyone has different situations but in terms of holidays you are all supposed to be treated fairly. I agree with the above post, you need to seek professional advice which might help.

I have 3 weeks of vacation (throughout the year, not all at once) and the people above my level (directors etc.) only get 4 weeks. I've never heard anyone having 2 months vacations. I would be content if I had 45 days!

Yes I agree with shikra,,,no one gets that much vacation time in USA!! Thats really totally unheard of. And if you asked for that much, you'd be told that if they can do without you while you vacation for 2 months then they can do without you, yeah? Most people here get 2 weeks a year, preferably taken one week at a time and thats IT. If you want to go away for that long, see if you can do a leave-of-absence - at least that way, you're coming back to a job. Really tho, count your blessings here!

must be middle east our europe. I have a month of vacation and there is no way in hell I can take it all at once. the only time i can take 2 weeks together is around christmas time when things are slow.
anyways now andy in your situation, do ppl who ahve that much vacation take it all at the same time or in chunks? u need to find that out. and proceed accordingly.

well according to labour law14 days (paid) are allowed through out the year here in middle east, most people who are working in private companies, gets more then that...& it also depends on your job, but in our company which is an ISP, people gets more then a month.

well andy, in that case u need to work with your bioss and figure out what you can do and how it can be possible. if that does not go well u may need to involve HR, although in such cases and goign against the boss like that can be a CLM or CEM (career limiting move of career ending move) especially in the middle east

Well do you HAVE TO have 2 months off? I mean is there any special reason behind it or you just want it just for the heck of it and just because others get it too? If it’s not that important, I would say who cares, you shouldn’t put your career at risk because of this minor issue.

He's given you 45 days of vacation before and you're complaining of discrimination? Arent 45 days almost two months?
Your boss is bending over backwards as it is, and you're pushing his buttons. Quit demanding two months or you'll get a nice little pink slip telling you to go on vacation forever.

After going on vacation for 45 days and still have job, you should be thankful to your boss :D… By going for 2 months you are indirectly telling your boss that they can do just fine without you
