Documentary: Return of the Taliban

I’ve seen half of it and it’s very disturbing. It’s about the Taliban’s foothold in Pakistan and contradicts much of Musharraf’s public statements. If this keeps up, Americans will have no choice but to go directly into the tribal areas.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

^Pakistani army will take care of it b4 it leads to that.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

If ppl are moving across borders, both sides need to try and stop it not just one side.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

You should hesr what Ahmed Rashid has to say about the Tribal areas and Al Qaeda… Pakistan is simply awash with these Taliban and Al Qaeda people. They have made a mockery of the country and its laws.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

tribal areas really need to be just pimp slapped. yeah tradition and what nots is fine but u cant do stuff that endangers national interests.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

Now this is the place to “call a spade a spade” . Taliban No doubt are religious extremists. No education for women, every one grow a beard, No jobs for women, No religious freedom, they have taken religion to a whole new extreme by mixing Ass old traditions with religion. I see the afghan television network every day and meet people who come from Afghanistan. Every one agrees that Afghanistan is progressing at the speed of light even if its only limited to Kabul.

More power to Nato, May the Taliban be defeated time and time again so that they understand that their ideology is flawed and non-yielding.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

just watched the documentary, what was done to hayatullah shows the real face of mushis govt. there is no such thing as free media, he embarrased the army and he was killed!!

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

I have'nt seen the documentary, nor can I see it online...

Just a question : is it based on pre-911 era? The army supporting them and all?

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

It was just released yesterday I believe, so its very up to date.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

The tribal areas are realy a land with no rules. Everything is rampant here from open gun sales to drug sales. You can procure any type of drug you want just by heading out towards the tribal terriotry, its sad really.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

Frontline was reporting on this and they uncovered a lot of shady dealings going on... Hayatullah seems to have been killed by the Govt, and it seems quite obvious. Even Musharaf seemed to be caught in a fib. He denied the whole thing.
The report also said that the most likely place for Osama and his goons is in Bajur agency, but the govt has sent no Army there...
The govt is up to no good here.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

What's more chilling is that there are some people on gupshup who agree with Taliban's unislamic rule and want the same for all of Pakistan! They refuse to believe the evil nature of Taliban and jihadis. And many of these same people are enjoying the liberties of more free countries like Dubai or the West, yet continue to want barbaric law for those of us in Pakistan. What hypocrites.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

the religious nuts in foreign countries would probably like to see Pakistan removed from the map and join a Khalifat being ruled by some despotic ruler further West.

Also though the Taliban were backward, any alternative was also just as backward. I'd use Ismail Khan's rule of Herat as an example post Taliban, but you can also refer to atrocities by Tajiks and Uzbek leaders, in particular Rashid Dostum.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

There's two points overlooked.

  • Tribals have always been conservative. *]the Pakistani Taliban is a local militia, it's not the Afghani Taliban like the documentary makes out.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

Pakistan needs to deploy 200,000 men in South Waziristan, 200,000 men in Bajaur region and 200,000 men on the enterance of these tribal areas

and go in all out and take care of this menace

Syria had a similar situation and they went in guns blazing, killed 20,000 of their own people but crushed the sunni extremists

we need to do the same

if they take arms agaisnt the government, then they deserve to die

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

^^ Idiotic. Genocide doesnt work, and it definitely won't work with the tribal mentality.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

USA, Britain, Canada plus a hot of other nations combined have not been able to even weaken the Taliban...what chance do you think the Pakistan Army has?

They are what the Prophet called, Taif al Mansoorah, The Victorious Group. The Nusrah of Allah is with them, where ever they are..be it Afghanistan or Iraq or Somalia, and its impossible to defeat them.

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

I certianly didn’t mean to imply that the NA were better then the Talibs. Just trying to correct those who think they were angels of some kind. People like Sharaabi that is, who still believe that Taliban actions are Islamic in nature, yet like to live themselves in the prostituion capital of the Middle East instead if in Taliban run “Islamic paradise”.

Also, Taliban is one and the same, whether Pakistani or Afghan. Both are Pashtun pseudo-jihadi movements with backward goals and both are barbaric in their actions. I still don’t understand why the government thought it was ok to make deals with them but not with Bugtis?

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

I think they just dont believe everything they hve been told about the Taliban.. They think its some kind of western media conspiracy..
I doubt there are many who would support disallowing women from going to school, forcing men to wear neards and banning Music and kite flying..

Re: Documentary: Return of the Taliban

Well SAid!!
