Re: Doctors of GS....
so sweet of you pcp....i always knew there were nice people in this place amongst all the horrible ones :(
Re: Doctors of GS....
if someone has fractured their arm and its been bandaged.....but then they at times feel their fingers feeling really stiff (i.e. they cant close them to make a fist)....why does that happen? (it only happens sometimes)
If they fractured their arm, possiblity that one of the nerve might have been affected too. It can be ulnar nerve, which passes by the epicondyle (behind the elbow). Thats the only reason I can think of.
Btw where (specifically) he has a fracture?
for more specific answer plz take an appointed from my assistant Sac :)
Re: Doctors of GS…
so a blood vessel is blocked? what would be the treatment for that? im hoping it would naturally get ok ?
Re: Doctors of GS....
If his skin is cynotic (blue color) then u can say its the blood vessel, which I doubt.

if a nerve was affected then why does it pass **impulses **sometimes and not at other times....i mean if it was damaged...it would surely not conduct impulses at all....not when it feels like it? at times its totally ok....which makes me think the lack of blood supply is a better explanation maybe
and yesterday he said it feels like that...at that time i told him to lower his arm and after a bit he said its ok which shows it could be related to blood supply.
Re: Doctors of GS....
two possibilities:
either the nerve is not totally damage
or
lack of blood supply
Re: Doctors of GS…
my other post-

“u probably havent use arm to much lately, which reduced ur finger movement to, and plus, i think ur finger bones are connected to ur arm…or it can be carpotunnel! or tendentitis..but fingers dont have tendents..”
but it could also be low blood supply!
but im not that much of a 12 yr old genuis!
…i dont really know much about treatment…maybe ur friend should excerise the hand or wrist something like everyday, i remember when i broke my legs, and when they were pretty much healed, my legz and ankles were stif…

what would u suggest as treatment?
Re: Doctors of GS…
thanks for that komal :k:
Re: Doctors of GS…
calling emergency services, and MAKE him go with them to get it PROPERLY looked at..
isolating the movement of the hand, including the entire area from ONE side of the fracture to BEYOND the next side
Re: Doctors of GS....
Seriously, this is the best place you thought of to ask this question ?
You could have Goolge-ed it, you could have gone to a medical forum, or you could have even have rung Nhs Direct.
Re: Doctors of GS....
even i think i need a doc badly :(
Re: Doctors of GS....
OK...so here is my humble opinion...(probably wrong but here goes)...
one of a few possibilities...
1)nerve damage-probably made worse by the fact that his arm is in a cast
2)blood supply damage-very unlikley though, you would notice his arm and hand going all blue
3)Tendon damage-again this is probably made wose by imobility and the fact that his arm is locked in a certain position within a cast
4)Muscle damage-(same as above)
what he needs to do...is just perform gentle physio exercises, for a few minutes several times a day....and definately get it checked out when he attends fracture clinic

not sure about tendon damage b/c as Impulse mentioned that he can move his hand sometimes but at other times it get stiff. If tendon to be damaged the infected area would be swollen and once the tendon is damage ..nothing can be moved :S i would take a chance on nerve damage or nerve being pressured b/c of cast.
ok now I need Dr. Sac over here!!!!!!!
