A series between Pakistan and India is recognised as the biggest derby in sports. Ashes or no Ashes.

Off late Ashes use to be a one sided affair (between 1988 and 2005). It was only the series in 2005 which offered one of the best moments in test cricket. Whereas you do get to see thrilling moments/matches in almost every Pakistan india series.
Re: Do You Think...
n u r flooding here ........ Its all abt opinions .......
I think Ashes are far more "true cricket"
while India Pakistan cricket is full of emotions
Re: Do You Think…
what i didnt know there was any cafe lingo:confused:
i agree with you fkhan2:)
Re: Do You Think...
Until both India and Pakistan give this bi-lateral series a name and then play it on a regular basis for a century, there is no way it can come close to the sniff of the Ashes!
Is the interest and quality as good as the Ashes? Absolutely, if not more. But the honchos of both cricket boards are idiots and have been idiots for more than 50 years. They need to give this series a name - The LOC Series (Line of Control); the Borderline Series; the Jungjoo series; the battle series or something along those lines. And also play it every two years - 5 tests at the minimum.

The question is about the biggest crowd pullers. Ashes has had it time now the biggest draw in cricket is India/Pak.
Here is what happened at edgbaston 4 years ago when India/Pak met in ICCT trophy. The match was sold out in 30 minutes of the tickets going on sale. Two days after the indo/pak match there was the eng/aus match and they were announcing on the ground that tickets were still available for that match, and this was in England.

Absolutely.
The India-Pak series could be much better packaged from a promotional standpoint. But the two boards are already minting enough money from these series....I think they don't have enough motivation to spend time/effort in better organizing and/or packaging.
And btw, I don't feel the quality of "India-Pak" cricket is in anyway inferior to the Ashes. The English team has been mostly rollovers barring that one series.

buddhay Some1, Cafe’ mein kiya karrahe thay tum??? ![]()
Both viewership wise, TRP and commercial value wise, Ind-Pak cricket series has surpassed Ashes or Ind-Aus series(as Ind was trying to claim back in 2000-2002 that its biggest).
I hope it stays that way and ppl like Afridi, Butt, Srisaanth don’t ruin it with their chichorapun and anaaripun.
Re: Do You Think…
ghalti ho gayee bhai .. maaf kerdoo …
but i still think ASHES IS FAR BETTER THEN INDO-PAK …
though my msn nick these days is “Sunny → Pakistan vs India - it is not a game .. it is WAR” …

some1 is not a bhudda by any means. He is only 68.
Re: Do You Think...
PAK vs IND series beat ASHES hands down in all aspects except presentation (or packaging).
Crowd, money, emotions, interest, quality of cricket, hype, gossips and so on! You name the category and PAK vs IND series beats any other cricket series (including ASHES)
