How much does the fear of nazar affect your decision to share stories/photos about your child (here, on FB, etc).
Re: Do you think twice?
i go through phases... then i calm down lol
when he was first born, my parents and i were just fanatical about masha'Allah, etc. and it would drive us crazy when people would praise the baby and not say it. then i got some rest and relaxed and told them to relax too. i think the more you think about these things, the more you leave yourself open to nazar happening. i say masha'Allah and alhamdulillah, of course, but i don't get stressed over it if someone else doesn't. i just say it myself. i chalk up the initial panic to new mom sleep-deprived behaviour mostly.
Re: Do you think twice?
^I'm the same way, and then she gets sick and everyone says that it's because everyone was admiring her at a dawat or one of her videos we shared online or something. It's scary and frustrating.
Re: Do you think twice?
i care less about nazar which is the **weakness of iimaan**** at best, i worry about *evil people* on the web who might *turn pics into something undesirable. *
Re: Do you think twice?
Not much I think though I do read surahs whenever I feel unsafe.
Re: Do you think twice?
I don't let it affect me too much. I am careful to say Mashallah when talking about my son, we have a few people in my family that never say it and I just say it for them. I agree with Khalil its the people that I am more concerned about so I make sure to not share photos of my son with random people.
Re: Do you think twice?
If someone does not say Mashallah etc,I say it silently myself.I dont freak out anymore.
I really want to share pictures of her but as a poster said,it is the people I am scared about.I feel uncomfortable sharing pictures with random people.Recently we took her to a dawat wheres he was the center of attention and then I put her picture on FB and the next day she had a high fever which lasted 3 days.I am not implying that it happened because of that, but it just makes me believe that she got nazar...
I have always heard from elders that 4 Qul and Ayatul kursi help prevent from the evil eye.I recite that a few times a day.

aww..I am so sorry your kid is rang baranga and sookha hoa...!!
Atleast ours are not....!!!
Re: Do you think twice?
Just in the beginning... Especially when mil would blame all his flu and cold and crankiness on nazar... Now i do beleieve in it but to blame it all on the evil eye is far fetchedI blow the necessary surahs on him every night after we recite kalima together... And also do an additional round before going and after coming back from a social gathering... But that ive been taught to do since i was a kid myself... So is sorta habit now... Rest all is in god's hands. We have a lot of non mulsim friends and they ooh and aah over midget akl the time... Cant expect them to say mashallah... So i just say it silently...

Why does knowing this that others have non rang barangay kids make you sad...?????
You know what is actually sad...your response...!!
Every child is perfect and beautiful for its parents ,regardless ...I hope you do know the meaning of Inshallah and Mashallah and also that there is nothing wrong with saying it silently for your child. Also no one in this thread said that they force others to say the same...jo kah deh us ka bhi bhala aur jo na kahay us ka bhi bhala....
:-)

Do you have kids ?
Re: Do you think twice?
All parents are protective of their children but I honestly think Pakistanis take this whole nazar business over the top! Not everything bad is because people all around you are casting an evil eye on your precious little bundle! Yes your babies can get nazar but you can't expect others to constantly say the right words just so your baby is protected from nazar. As a parent, you should always make sure to read ayat-ul-kursi and the 4 quls as well as be regular in your prayers to always protect your family from harm's way.
It's funny when people think just by saying "MashaAllah, SubhanAllah, InshaAllah" they'll avoid nazar without doing their part as a parent to offer regular prayers and recitation of the appropriate surahs for the protection of their child. At the end of the day, if you're regular in these things, Allah will protect you and your child from people's nazar and though words like MashaAllah are important, they are not the end all to avoid nazar.
Re: Do you think twice?
Lol yourfriend. For every parent their child is the most beautiful and the biggest blessing. I'm not paranoid about nazar though I do believe in it. All duas during my prayers ask for my kids protection and good health and safety. But I do post their pics on my fb and on GS with people I like and trust.
