The govt is more than welcome to ban cell phone usage while driving, as long as they can do something about traffic jams and highways bursting at seams due to capacity issues.

I dont think that many of my calls while on the road are critical, there are times when I have to make work related calls but that is rare.

I dont have an issue pulling over for a call and then going, but the reasons for bannign cell phone usage are rather moronic. I have seen ppl read magazines, eat yogurt, watch TV, turn around and yell at the kid, apply make up, what nots and they are all dangerous behavior..as far as hands not being on the wheel, ppl changing cd's and tapes in their car stereos, etc etc etc etc.

why single out cellphone.

i support it fully. especially in pakistan. traffic here is crazy and there is no way drivers should be multitasking. u need both eyes on the road, other cars, car mirrors. both hands one on the steering wheel one on the stick shift. one foot on the accelerator and one between the clutch and the break. 100% of ur brain on the road. constantly.

in america too since speeds are so high, u need ur full concentration on the road.

its not just about saving urself, its about the safety of others too. i think such rules r important.

For anyone questioning, Why I drive a big rig (Chevy Silverado)…its the texans Sedan folks. Its the Texas way.
