exactly. Is it below someone's dignity to take care of domestic chores?

Astagfirrullah... A Wife should NOT do all this. She is prohibited from working in her own home....

and what if they cant afford to?
I am not comparing a wife with a maid, but if I cant afford to hire a driver and drive my own car, or cant afford to hire a gardner and mow my own grass, am I comparing myslef with a driver or a maali? No.

whats wrong with comparing ur self with a maali, A Maali is someones husband too. same applies to maid.
Re: Do you mind if your hubby interferes ...
why should I compare myself to someone elses husband
Re: Do you mind if your hubby interferes ...
If he wants to do a chore, he's welcome to do it his way and I won't interfere. and yes I have taken some of his suggestions and it's helped me with some of my chores. I have no problems admitting that he has more experience doing housework (since he didn't always live with his family) than I do (spoiled princess :))
why should I compare myself to someone elses husband
And you shouldn't. But I dunno why men like to bring up their mothers/sisters/bhabis/wives' freinds/freinds' wives/neighbors/actresses when talking to their wives. I don't know any women who do that with their husbands....but guys like to do that for some reason
Re: Do you mind if your hubby interferes ...
you guys are so stupid
how should i say this
a woman is the care taker of the house not some labour. indeed it is her responsibility to take care of the house but it is not her job to clean, cook, clean, mop, iron, laundry, are you gonna kill her?
i never give my personal example, but in this case i will since noone really knows me.
my mom is the head of the household related issues (meaning everything that happens inside the house). she is responsible for keeping the house in good shape since she is a house wife. but this does not mean she cleans and clearns all day long when we are at work. that is riliculous. there are tasks assigned in my home interms of cleaning washroom, vaccuming, cleaning cars, dishwashing, etc. (that are do able by the male members of the family) whatever is leftover she does it (including cooking, etc.) all the labour stuff she does not do (carrying groceries, etc.) in our household women (mother and wives) are 'so-managers' of the house and not labour/maids. so we do and should do the labourious work since we love them so much.
i hope i made myself clear

Re: Do you mind if your hubby interferes ...
^ Chore means something different to an Urdu speaker than to an English speaker ... To an English speaker "chore" is hard work ... to an Urdu speaker ... it means .... "leave it" (I'll do it myself - says the wife)
Re: Do you mind if your hubby interferes …
Yes you did
And Am not Stupid…

Well comparing is a bad thing to start with. We shldnt compare, but my point was that from our posts we try to say that Maali are lower by Zaat or is a bad occupation. They are hard workers and hence closer to ALLAH.
Re: Do you mind if your hubby interferes ...
something on a similar note
i was ironing my shirt the other day and my mom says let me iron it for you. and he being a (lazy) son said ok fine. she started ironing it and i started walking up and down the hallway feeling so damn useful. she got pissed and said what are you doing, iron your shirt yourself now since you are so useless. so i did it myself. days following that whenever she asks me to iron my shirt, i say NO, and we both laugh

Re: Do you mind if your hubby interferes ...
Going by what I've observed at home, women don't usually like it if men start interfering. Suggestions on what to cook and what needs improvement are definitely not welcome.
