Do you know anyone

who recovered from a severe chronic depression? Its not the short term depression that we frequently experience, it’s the long term depression that lasts throughout your life if untreated and there is no guaranteed treatment.

Re: Do you know anyone

short term depression? do you mean sadness.....sadness and clinical depression are not the same thing. depression is very serious and one needs to go to a therapist to get treated for it. i don't think one can get rid of it totally, anti depressants are necessary so the person doesn't go to a sudden low to where they're suicidal so they need constant care. after they take the anti depressant they're like anybody and totally fine.

i personally have never seen anybody get cured though, i read somewhere that a particular type of yoga routine has helped people with depression

Re: Do you know anyone

My Khala (aunt). She had pretty severe depression and it took her a lot of time(and medicines and therapists) to come out of it. She still has minor 'attacks' of extreme sadness though, but they don't usually last for more than a day or two. 3-4 days at maximum.

So ya, depression can definitely be cured(this is as close as you get to a cure), but it takes a lot of time and support (both medical and from your family). But anyways, it takes years.

Re: Do you know anyone

Yes I know quite a few fellows in a terrible state these days... but after what they endured I cant see anything turning out any better for them...

I think to be honest I dont know anyone to have completely recovered... I do know some who continue with thier lives as best as possible and perhaps they are very good people but they become rather reclusive and have a very negative and pessimistic mid set.

Re: Do you know anyone

O totally agree with negative and pessimistic mind set.....

unfortunately I dont know if it is allah say doori aur just the bad luck they run which makes them this way?
