Do you have a Christmas tree up?

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

No don’t have a christmas tree, never had.

Do enjoy watching the lights other people have put on their houses.

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

No i am not putting one up bcoz i dont have money for a christmas tree.

I love Christmas trees. I haven’t put one up though. I don’t know if I will or won’t in the future.

But many people do…for pure fun.

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

I love Christmas time, in fact it is my favourite time of year. The festive mood, the lights, and the crazy shopping. It is contagious, even if you are not a Christian. I would love to put a Christmas tree up but would never do. Why? Because it would mean that I am trying to be something I am not. Regardless of it being “just” a tree, it is still a symbol of Christianity.

But if you do decide to put one up, no one should judge you for it.

FYI (taken from Wikipedia):

According to the Encyclopædia Britannica, “The use of evergreen trees, wreaths, and garlands to symbolize eternal life was a custom of the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews. Tree worship was common among the pagan Europeans and survived their conversion to Christianity in the Scandinavian customs of decorating the house and barn with evergreens at the New Year to scare away the devil and of setting up a tree for the birds during Christmastime.”

Do you have a Christmas tree up?

Noo

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

nah…our tree ornaments are in storage and I’m too lazy to dig them out.

we do make a game of counting the number of decorated houses on our way home from school…each day the number goes up by 5 or ten…sometimes we just drive around to enjoy the lights.

yes…we are jahannami.

note: I did not start this thread.

Glad you cleared that up with that note at the end Muzna. It’s put a lot of confusion to bed. People weren’t sure how to find out who started the thread; not sure how this place would operate without you :stuck_out_tongue:

I would still say I would put one up. More than anything it would be for fun for the kids. I dont think it makes a person a better or worse Muslim for putting one up. It’s about intent, or niyat. I wouldnt put religious icons on the tree.

But that’s just my take on it.

We do something sort of similar and whoever spots the a decorated house scream light and if it’s a bunch of house then all you hear is four maniacs screams lights light lights light lights. I like the idea of counting the houses too thou. So next time

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

Aren’t you the same one who was opposing Thanksgiving on the other thread? :konfused:

Do you have a Christmas tree up?

^ I think she was being sarcastic

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

My entire budget for festive celebrations for the year gets used up in clothes, decorations, gifts, daawats etc on the two eids. So unfortunately I am unable to celebrate any of the other less important days.

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

No. Though they can go out and plant trees. Make up for all the fools wasting trees and electricity. Heck I’m gonna make them plant trees if they ask for a Christmas tree.

Re: Do you have a Christmas tree up?

Lets see. :faris::hehe:

Up what? :hehe:

Thread title reminded me of this …

The tradition of the fairy on the Christmas Tree

Father Christmas was not in a very good frame of mind - in fact he was very depressed.

That morning after breakfast, Mrs Santa had told him that her Mother was coming over to stay ‘for a few days’ and he knew that would be for several weeks, and as Christmas was approaching her visit was the last thing that he wanted.

The Elves had neen playing up and had gone on strike for more pay. The replacement elves Santa had put in were much slower and the number of toys that had been made was way down.

Father Christmas went to visit his Reindeers and found that two of them were pregnant and another two had kicked down the fence and had disappeared into the forest. He was by now even more depressed.

What I need is a drink he thought, but upon going indoors he found that the elves had hidden his Whisky and there was nothing left to drink in his liquour cabinet. Deciding upon a coffee he went into the kitchen but managed to drop the Jar of Coffee all over the floor. Now he really was cheesed off!

He went to fetch the broom to sweep up the mess but found that the mice had chewed off all the bristles.

At that moment there was a knock at the front door.

Upon opening it, Father Christmas was confronted by a beautiful Fairy holding a lovely Christmas Tree.

“Good Morning, Santa” she called “Isn’t it a really lovely day. I have bought you this beautiful tree, isn’t it lovely? Where would you like me to stickit?”

And that is why by tradition we have a Fairy sitting on top of our Christmas Trees.

No. My Christian neighbour has one and I pass by it every day. It’s pretty
