Bro, Sahabas and Believers are not interchangeable terms. And this very verse is an excellent proof of that. For further proofs you could analyse other verses of the holy Quran that talk of the Sahaba, study Hadiths that are commonly accepted, or examine history where can see that many grand Sahabas came out in battles against each other without anybody using this verse as an evidence of their truthfulness.

another example of the sahaba being refered to as believers:

MKhan: Indeed, Allah was pleased with the believers when they gave the Bai’ah (pledge) to you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) under the tree: He knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down As-Sakinah (calmness and tranquillity) upon them, and He rewarded them with a near victory.
