I would like to defend Munni here, I dont think she meant those girls ARE insecure, she just wanted to know what we all think.

I wud think u wud have to be quite secure and confident with urself to post ur pic on the World Wide Web...also depends on the type of pic and the pose...if u have been communicating with someone for a while, and/or u have a "special" relationship with him/her, then i think there is nothing wrong with showing each other ur pics...one of my girl cousins hadn't seen me since i was a little girl and after chatting a couple of times asked me for my pic cos she said "i just like to put a face with who i'm talking to"...some ppl want to remain anonymous online...others, feel more comfortable when they can SEE who they r talking to...and i think it's the same for guys and girls...i think some ppl do want to know wot others think of them, but that doesn't necessarily mean they r insecure...and some do it to show off or get attention...but if u know the person quite well on a mental level, then i think u can tell wot their reason for showing their pic is.

Most girls post pics of other girls which is a fact! Well they do it just for the purpose of having a bit of fun and keeping the person at the other end interested in her :p
Girls who post their real pics... hm, well they do it 2 get praised for their looks coz they are desperate for appreciation!

Thanks Crash, although I do think most guppies realized I am just asking the question, not expressing my own thoughts.
The reason I posted this is for a few reasons, but one of them is this.
I used to hear guys make fun of girls who sent them their pics. I found this very disturbing. They used to say that these girls were desperate and fishing for compliments, and they had great fun collecting girls pictures online and showing it to their friends. Not saying this was every guy, but I used to sometimes pretend I was a guy online and talk to other guys, and plenty of them had this opinion of girls who would show them their pics online. You need not believe me that this attitude is quite rampant, all you need to do is pretend to be a guy online, and I am sure you will experience this yourself. The amount of picture sharing in mind-boggling.
I remember a guy I knew asking me if I had a picture of a good looking guy. I asked him why, and he said this girl online is asking for his pic and since he isnt good looking he wants to send a nice pic so that she will continue talking to him. sigh

I agree with those people who said something along these lines:
No, they are not insecure. I think girls who don't post pics are insecure because they have nothing to show (in most cases). Girls who do post pics, they are bold enough and confident enough to share their pictures. As sara said, girls who say "i am all hot and what not" and show attitude as if they are hoors of heaven are the ones who are not good looking and are insecure.
Not generalizing, but this is true in most case. There are exceptions and I know some girls personally who are beautiful and the reason why they didn't post their pics on gupshup was because they didn't want guys to oogle at them. Simple.

Im an atttention whore at times, I like attention, good attention obviously. But yea, I don't think its a bad thing, so long as you dont berate others in the process. I.e by calling them fat etc - which is all the more humourous when they are thinner than you. Or by calling them a tramp etc, becasue that in itself alludes to deeper-set insecurities.
