Re: Do you favour a province newly named pakhtunistan and..

Hindko and Siraiki speaking people have no problem with remerging Attock and Mianwali with NWFP or renaming NWFP to Pashtunistan because a lot of Hindko and Seraiki speaking people are paternally of Pashtun descent and have a strong sense of affiliation with their Pashtun tribes and yearn to get back in touch with their ancestral identity.

The Hindko and Seraiki speaking people who are not of Pashtun tribes are a minority and except for a few even they are willingly embracing the Pashtun identity and we welcome them with open arms into our ethnicity.

Just for the records I know I was previously of the view that lineage does not determine ethnicity and only culture (of which language being the main component) does but I have changed my opinion, anyone who can trace their lineage to a known Pashtun tribe is a Pashtun if he identifies himself as such but I still believe that people can convert into an ethnicity by adopting the culture (language, traditions, values).

I think Kaka Atom is one of the Pashtuns who speaks Hindko but is of a Pashtun tribe and he is for the remerging of his district back to NWFP, I have cousins in Attock and they feel a greater affiliation with the NWFP than the rest of Punjab.
