Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Do you only bring zabiha into your home?

Do you eat non-zabiha in restaurants?

If so, why or why not?

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

We only eat zabihah at home and only go to restaurants who assure they have zabihah halal meat.

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

a- Only eat zabiha halal at hoome

b- Only eat veggie/fish dishes or desserts at non-halal places.

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Perhaps, I should rephrase my sentence.

We only eat zabihah at home and only eat zabihah halal at restaurants (if available). Otherwise, we eat veggie/fish.

Hmmm…hmmm…:hmmm:

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

We grew up on whoppers as kids, My parents were somewhat relaxed about zabiha-non zabiha meat while eating out.

Then in the mid-90s a lot of halal places opening up here so then we kinds stopped eating anything but only Halal.

At home it was always zabiha meat from a muslim butcher.

Now at my own house. We keep halal at all times with the exceptions of a few times where he got them happy meals and we both had a big mac eww I know halal or not halal still gross :hehe:

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Its so interesting…when we buy meat for our freezers or to cook at home…its zabiha. I do the same.

But for some of us, eating meat out is not an issue.

I evaluate the situation. If I am at a nice place where I see a dish I just have to try, I’ll totally eat it.

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

zabeeha, mostly, yes!

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Reha I think a lot of ppl adopt a similar mindset as yours. They eat non-zabiha meat out, but will go to a halal butcher for groceries. Personally, I don’t think it’s a huge deal- I mean, there are much bigger issues in our religion that we collectively should be working on- but I eat zabiha b/c I grew up in a strictly zabiha household. Now, I can’t get myself to eat outside meat.

One thing that I don’t understand, maybe someone can clear it up for me: the idea of “evaluating” the quality of the meat at a non-zabiha restaurant, what does this have to do with being zabiha or not? If you are trying to avoid pesticides, etc. then it’s a different issue from being zabiha. It has more to do with organic vs. non-organic meat. But our religion’s definition of zabiha has to do with the specific way the animal is slaughtered- as quick & painlessly as possible, as well as allowing for the blood to completely drain from the animal. Plus, we all know the meat is “blessed.” So even top quality organic meat is not the same, and zabiha meat is not necessarily organic… Two different issues. Am I missing something?

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

For me - evaluating is looking at my menu and deciding if its worth it to eat out! If I see a good steak…the evaluation has concluded that steak is mine! :hehe:

Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Feeding urself halal is so important - im not trying to preach, I have many many flaws - but I just wanted to share what i have heard many times that if we eat haram (I.e non zahba) then this impacts on us and our actions
Like when people earn money thru haram sources their lifestyles aren’t “paak” likewise I have heard if u eat haram you will be drawn to do other haram things
I’m not judging just wanted to share what I’ve been told

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

some people are on a mission to prove something.

so silly.

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

same here

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Only halal. And if no halal dishes..as madzy said..any seafood.

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

but if seafood n veggies are cooked in non halal oil then wouldn’t it become non-halal to eat?
or you make sure its all 100 percent halal to the best of your knowledge?

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

^You make a very good point. Certain cuisines, such as Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine, often use animal fat (including pork) to cook their veggies.

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

For me there is no concept of non Zabiha at all. And in my opinion being Muslim we all should have same approach. Its a very valid hadith that if you eat Haram then your ibadats and prayers are not accepted for 40 days.
Muslimah In religion its a big deal to eat halal. In ear of Yousuf bin hujjaj who was a very cruel leader, he invited a group of Ulema whose duas and bad duas were accepted always and he made them eat haram and said to the public that I am now secured from their badduas. Its a big deal. Deplorably the dilema is many of our Muslims dont care and thus non muslims wonder why they have to make halal if they can consume.
See now I have not started this debate as I was being blamed of starting in the Thanksgiving thread. But here even question is asked for the choice made. I cant think of eating non halal as if animal is not lawful as per order of Allah then my point is i cant eat. I am too sinful so if i can adhere to this rule Allah would give me insha’Allah ability to do other good deeds too.
Outside we eat very seldom, if im ill and cant cook as Perth does not even has very delicious food. But if eating from outside its only from halal place and from non halal no question of eating as their fish and veggie is cooked in same oil where they cook all non halal stuff. There are quite a lot Indian Restaurants out there but we dont simply eat, reason is same cant think of eating from even non halal place. Even Chicken we only eat the Hand Slaughtered one as machine slaughtered one has lots of doubts and sadly many of our Muslims did not know this, we also got to know 2 years back only

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Only and only zabiha (halal). I can never imagine eating any thing non zabiha/non halal.

Luckily there are a lot of Halal restaurants where I am so no problem. When I was in the US, I just went to Halal places or ate fish at non halal places like Cheesecake Factory. Although this is something I wouldnt do often.

It is my personal opinion- but i think that if God has told us to eat what is only slaughtered in His (Allah’s name), we have no reason not to. The thought of eating non halal meat just disgusts me. Guess it is the way I have been brought up.

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

Very similar thoughts like me, When Allah has commanded we have to understand that just do it in anyway and in our best effort. Sometimes people give lame excuses that we have asked the seller if halal or not and its not our responsibility but we are very much responsible even to investigate specially in this era of fitna we are living in

Re: Do you eat only Zabiha at home?

One more thing. I noticed that in the US, ALL chicken, cow etc is considered HALAL. Pork is HARAM. Then comes in zabihah. Only chicken etc slaughtered in Allah’s name is considered ZABIHAH.

I didn’t know about this until i lived there. I once said that McDonalds is haram and my cousins replied that McDonalds is halal (their chicken and beef stuff) but just not zabihah. Halal basically means permissible and Zabihah is a specific Arabic word that literally means “slaughtered”.

In places such as Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, UAE etc, there is no such thing as zabiha. Food is just divided into two categories, halal and non-halal(or haram). In fact, I never knew of the word zabihah until i lived in the States. :stuck_out_tongue:

However, as quoted by Islamic Services of America on their website : *The term “zabihah” is a human, cultural innovation that should not be confused with “Halal” which is from the Quran and Sunnah. *
