Lemme go vomit.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

Gol guppay…aka…pani puri? They are basically these shells which you crack open and fill with chanay, potatoes, onions and top with chutneys.

No curry involved, so you shouldn’t be repulsed by them…i think/hope.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

pani puri’s water is pretty stinky even to curry eaters like me. sentry will become dysentery after smelling it.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

i have it every day with fluffy roti’s. thursday is chicken/mutton biryani day

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

I know what it is, I just didn’t know the name. I eat a few plain here and there. Not really interested in putting that brown water in it.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

Forget about smelling it Lol, the look alone puts me off.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

You haven’t eaten pani puri unless brown water has made a continuous jet stream from your chin all the way down.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

If I try it, will you come and lick the jet stream from my chin?

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

Not a fan of the brown water myself, I prefer to drizzle chutney on the top. I feel there’s a diff b/w the Indian pani puri and gol guppay made in Punjab. The latter are more fulfilling.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

No!

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

Why u hating on Indians? Are u saying only gol guppas (not guppay) make one full and filled up?

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

I will naturally be more partial to Pakistan, but I don’t hate on Indians. The gol guppa probably originated in India. What I mean is that we stuff the shells so they are more fuller and thus fill you up too. To my knowledge and I don’t mind being corrected if I’m wrong, they are called gol guppay in Punjab and pani puri in karachi. I have had the ones from my hometown in Pak and I’ve also eaten the Indian version. We eat them with yogurt and imli ki chutney and another meehi red colored chutney which I think is a plum chutney…so it seems there are more ingredients involved in our version…or I guess what would be the Punjabi version. The way we make them at home is that we make a chana-chaat (chick peas, aloo, tomatoes, boondi dana, mchaat masala, etc) and stuff the shells with the chaat…and then put yogurt and chutneys atop the shells. They’re my favorite street food when I go to Pak and I might end up sick but I have to eat them.

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

I was just bs’ing.

As Sentry would say,

Allow serious talk.

The gol guppay do sound tasty. Will try that when I get a chance

Re: Do you eat curry/salan?

Good idea. Never tried it with chutney. I’ve tried poppadoms with chutney + small diced onions, salad etc.
