First of all that cant happen…but if that happens as i was born in Pakistan…i would be calling my self as Pakistani and even if i moved to USA/UK/Canada i will be visiting Pak every 6 months lol
Well It was just a theory, not applying it to you directly .. just a hypothesis! lol
But I do understand why you would think like that. Your saying that you can only call yourself Pakistani if you were born there. If you were born anywhere else in the world and moved to Pakistan.. your nationality would be where you were born right? So like if u were born in the US then moved to Pakistan.. you would still be American Pakistani. not pure Pakistani.
I know what you mean. Many people who have lived outside Pakistan and only come for a visit are not "pure Pakistanis" as you put it. They are American/British/Canadian Pakistanis. We are American/British/Canadian of Pakistani desent.
I know this is a general statement but it is true people who have lived outside Pakistan most of their lives can never adjust to a life in Pakistan its far too hard for "walatees" to comprehend.
Still it is our roots. We are proud of our ancestory/culture/heritage we kind of feel a sense of belonging to it.
I was born and bred in Canada and still consider myself..Canadian with Pakistani origin. My parents have been here for long time here in Canada..came here in late 70s. And do i celebrate Pakistan independence day?. I guess, been to August 14th events..especially those Wonderland concerts don't know if they both are related. And nowdays, due to my job..don't get time for anything.
We are Pakistanis (by birth) while my kid (age 8) calls himself American-Canadian-Pakistani. My kids are American by birth, Canadian by Immigration and Pakistani by Parents
by the way while visiting UK, I saw a bumper sticker
